Thanks for the welcome zaleonardz. My dad lives in Durban and I can't get shots from the interior on his car, but I'll take some photos of mine and post them.

:)

Yes please, I love the E60, such a gorgeous shape... Will have to get one very soon, and that 6 speed manual must be awesome.

Your dads super rare 540/6 is also a very special car, he must love the thing to bits.

Both of these are gorgeous machines! The E60 with a manual gearbox isn't usually easy to find second hand, at least I never came across any. That 540 manual must then be the 540iM - I remember reading CAR's review when they tested it and having to wipe the drool off my face! :)

I have always had the impression that 5 Series models are more often bought with automatic gearboxes than manual whereas 3 Series is a bit more evenly split. And then I imagine that the few who have bought a manual 5 Series from new probably enjoy them so much that they don't want to part with them! :)

I found the car for such a bargain and had to buy it. Before I had an e34 (well I think it was the e34 '91 model) 525iM/5 manual which was my dad's before I bought it from him. Also an awesome car. Got nicked sitting at 499000km on the clock never opened, water pump replaced twice, water bottle replaced once (didn't blow headgasket!!!), clutch never replaced still running good. My dad's 540 however blew a headgasket soon after he got it under 150000km and he took it to a mac somewhere close to margate, they blew his computer and the car was immobile for a year before he took it to a guy in vereeniging/vanderbijl who fixed it. (Got towed by the e34 from Toti???) Now it is a real beast and yes he does love the car to bits, only drives it on Sunday's and long distances. Washes it himself once a week, nobody else allowed to wash it (except me???) He really takes good care of it. I am so in love with my e60 it's not even funny, I wash it so often, if you ask my 4 year old daughter what daddy does working at the airport, she'll tell you my daddy washes aeroplanes for a living??? Had an '87 318i from 1998-2000 (wrote it off RIP) and a 91' 318i cambelt jumped breaking a valve and destroying one piston and sleeve. Fixed it (sort of)and traded it in for an Audi A4 (worst car ever). Had a Merc C200K very safe car and wrote that off aswell on the N3 from Durbs into the back off a truck trailer. (Needless to say I hate the trucks on the road)

Thanks for the great compliments, will post some more pics soon.
