My E90 323i needs urgent attention

Hi everyone,

I have a 2007 323i E90 BMW with 96000km with the following issues:

1.) there's a "klank" sound after the clutch pedal is released after driving in the first, second and third gears.
2.) after driving the car for a short while, pulling off in first and subsequent gears is met with a subtle loss of power followed with a sudden surge of power (after hitting 2500 - 3000 rpm).
3.) sometimes have difficulty putting the gear lever into 1st gear
4.) performance is extremely sluggish, especially driving on an incline; there's also a rattling noise when driving up an incline.

I have taken my car to 3 dealerships in gauteng, who found no fault with the car, besides "tuning" it, while it was on motorplan.

Does anyone know what could be wrong? Or better, does anyone know of a reputable workshop that can help me?

Thank you in advance,
V

I gather the car is still under motorplan then, so I would insist that BMW sort this out!

From what I've read in the past, this could be a few common things. The clunk sound could be related to some bushes along the drivetrain/diff, or a giubo flexible coupling. Maybe also have the clutch and dual-mass flywheel checked.

As for the power loss, maybe a coil pack on its way out, or something with the Vanos is faulty.

Hopefully more people with more knowledge will be able to add to this with more suggestions, but motorplan is there to sort this sort of thing out, even if it means replacing the engine etc.

Philip, thanks for your advice. Unfortunately the motorplan has expired.

Best then would be to have diagnostics run and see if any faults come up, then go from there. DIY as much as you can, but I reckon there are plenty of specialists qualified to sort this out without you being ripped off! And for instance, if it's a coil pack, it's usually a Bosch coil pack, so can get this from Diesel Electric or some other places that sell Bosch products...
