Evening everyone,

Long time BMW owner, new forum member! I've owned a few different models from an E82 to an F20 and a couple in between. I currently own a 2008 E90 330d in Sapphire Black Metallic, and a 2 door E30 with an M62B44. [font=Tahoma, Verdana, Arial, sans-serif]Both [/font][font=Tahoma, Verdana, Arial, sans-serif]cars need a little love. [/font]

[font=Tahoma, Verdana, Arial, sans-serif]I'm currently rebuilding the M62 with all new gaskets and seals, and she'll be going for paint as well. This is meant to be a street legal car capable of some serious skids, so she's also sporting a 5 speed manual from an E46 330i, although I have a 6 speed from an E46 320d which I may or may not swap in as time goes by. Affectionately known as the Werewolf, because the first time she fired up was under a full moon...[/font]



My E90 was bought from a neglectful owner. Beautiful colour but lots of small damage. She will be getting a respray and an interior refresh shortly, and I'm thinking of headlight/taillight upgrades and a 335i rear bumper with dual exhaust. Once she's cosmetically sorted I want to do a DPF/EGR delete, upgraded intercooler, downpipe and a tune, along with a few more maintenance items.

Thanks Jakes! I'm definitely here to learn, I'm a property practitioner not a mechanic! I love working on my own stuff but I definitely bit off more than I could chew with the E30... it's been 4 years and I've finally resigned myself to the fact that it needs to go to a pro to finish it off.

I'll keep posting updates as time goes by and work gets done.

Not mechanically minded but assuming the 320d 6 speed box will probably handle more torque but will the diesel ratios not be too short for the M62 or is that negligible?

Thanks man! Bakkie sold today so things will be moving along nicely!

Yeah gearing kinda messes with my brain a bit (as do many engineering pursuits), but if I understand correctly, the diesel ratios are actually longer, because Diesel engines don’t rev up as high? Regardless, I have a very short ratio diff which is the only reason I’m considering the 6 speed. To fit it would be a whole bunch more fabrication and modification which I’m not Uber keen on right now

So I’m finally making some progress with my E30 build! Baby’s in the shop currently undergoing some prep work and she’ll be painted in the next week or so. Gonna spend my time putting the M62 back together, so that when she gets back from painting it should all go smoothly

I’ve also bought some coil overs and new brakes for the E90, which I’ll try fitting also between now and the weekend. I was considering EBC or Power Brake as an upgrade, but truth be told the stock brakes are fine for the current power level and driving I do, so I’d rather spend the money where it’s needed.

A couple more progress pics, fresh coat of paint is on, and the shell should be ready by Friday! I’m working feverishly to put the M62 back together to be ready by Friday/Monday, and hopefully within a week or two after that I’ll be back on the road

Thanks Tinuva! I was debating whether to change the colour and I decided to stick with this. I figure I’ve had the car so long with this colour and it’s kinda grown on me. I’ll take a few snaps of the engine when I work on her again, hopefully this evening. Thanks for the support
