Hi everyone,

I know this is going to be a stupid question, but each time I put my car in reverse, I get the "Beeping" noise as if I have parking sensors on my car. But I don't, I bought the car with the "Beeping" noise.

So I just want to know, is there anyone else who's car (e36) is making a "Beeping" noise when the car is put into reverse?

PS... when I bought the car, I bought it from a old person. So I think he put the thing in that makes the beep when I am in reverse

I dont think the e36 had PDC..? I stand to be corrected. Can you get a hold of the previous owner and confirm a installation of some sorts?

Is it a Auto or a Manual? If Auto it might be a warning letting you know something is wrong with the gearbox.

Hi,

It is a manual... The car only makes the beep noise when I put it in reverse... When I park, there is nothing... So I think the previous owner installed something for him to remind him he is in reverse

You would surely see any type of PDC installation whether OEM/factory or aftermarket.

The beep could maybe just be to confirm that you are successfully engaged in reverse gear. Not sure about the E36 setup.

I had an E36 convertible and it did make that beeping sound when you engaged reverse, mine was an auto. Pretty sure when i spoke to an owner of a manual 328i Individual he mentioned his car did the same. Seems it is oem....
