My 1st BMW

Hi guys I'm a proud owner of a 130i and as well, new to the forum. I enjoy the car but I am worried about the comments on service recieved by the dealers. The car still has its motorplan till Nov 2011 this year and it's a 2006 model with 43000km's on the clock. The dealership said I can only extend it when it 6 months before it expires. Is this correct? And does anyone know of the average cost? I want to extend it for another 2 years. Thanks

Jip, welcome to the forum, great choice of car :)

Also find out about extending for Time or Kilometers. One or the other might suit you better.

I think it's cheaper to extend for time, than it is to extend for kilometers. Depends how much mileage you do though.

Happy driving.

Welcome, dude and that's a great little car you got.

Look at service intervals on your car before you extend. Sometimes extending for a mere 10 000KM is not worth it. However, if you have plenty of KM's left, then extending time (years) is always a good idea. In your case, I would extend the years if you don't drive too much (as this is usually much cheaper than buying KM's).

BTW, what comments are you worried about. 130i's (as with most 6 cylinder petrols) are fairly reliable.

Someone posted a reply somewhere on the forum that the car has a different engine than a 330i and that the 130i engine isn't that strong. Forgive me I was a VW and a Seat driver for along time so my knowlege about BMW's is a bit limited.

lol were you downloading "Blueprints" and uploading things to "youtube" :p

"The new motor, dubbed the R6 (not to be confused with the M54 currently found in the 330i) was first seen in the 630ci Coupe, which made its debut in July last year. Considered one of the most advanced six-cylinder engines in the world, it makes use of BMW's fuel-saving, performance-enhancing Double Vanos and Valvetronic technology, as well as lightweight internal components cast of magnesium and other exotic alloys."

The 130i is an awesome car, I just wish you could get it as a coupé :(

125i Coupe... 3.0 Strait 6

Yeah but you have to go aftermarket to just unlock performance that has been purposefully locked away, I don't like that, but if I where to go for a 1'er I would probably go for the 125i
