Bought me a family car a week or so ago.

1994 VW Caravelle 2.5i with 152 000km on the clock. One owner car.

Spares keys have never been used. Full service history, everything original. Shell and BP is going to love me.

Nice!! My sister and I grew up in one of these, and learned to drive in it too.
Perfect family wheels. That Audi 5cyl motor has some potential too, and sounds great. Just mind the dog-leg 1st gear.

Enjoy bud!

The dogleg first is a bit of a pain.
I find the shift from 1 to 2 very long and time consuming. So, most of the time i just pull away in 2nd.

The car is very very clean

Yeah, dont pull a James May as he did with the Merc Cosworth 190 and the dogleg box! :roflol: Reversing into everyone!

Congrats, these are bulletproof cars. The syncro's still amaze me from this model!
Also have some fond memories from the back of one of these:fencelook:

Exactly, 2nd gear even on light inclines works great. 1st is really a slogging gear.
I remember my dad had to replace the speedo cable which is mechanical and connected to the front right wheel hub. To get the cable out he had to remove the fuel filler hose from the tank. New cable fitted and we drove away happy. Until he hit the first left hand turn and fuel came spilling out and under the loaded front right wheel. Our bus spun around like a drunk baboon! WTF happened was the general sentiment until dad found his fark-up. Only later did he tell me the truth! Hahahaha!! Good times.

I had an oil leak which turned out to be a faulty oil pressure switch. Walk in the park to replace. Then I had the aircon converted to new gas, replaced the rear silencer and on monday I found the exhaust manifold to be leaking.

So with all that done, she sailed trough roadworthy today.

Brings back childhood memories, but only in 2.1i guise with the 4 speed 'box. These only came out as I left school and started studying.
BTW, I passed my driver's license by training to parallel park the 2.1 'bus.

Our first bus was the 2.1 H watercooled, auto. k@k slow.
Then dad upgraded to a 2.5 caravelle with electric windows! Woooo!

Safe to say most of us 80's kids had some experience with the infamous Kombi. All time classic imo.
Keep her safe Jandre.

Stunning Caravelle there :praise:

Always loved these. And yes, as young as I am I went looking for one before I bought my Jetta :fencelook:

But correct me if I'm wrong, didn't the Caravelle come in a 2.1 litre 4-speed, a 2.3 litre 4-speed and 2.6 litre 5-speed, instead of 2.5?

2.1 with the 4 speed box was a real torque monster. We had one not so long ago here at the office.

I stand corrected but I dont think we ever had the 2.3i caravelle.

Only in Microbus and Volksiebus variants.
