Movie: Senna

Honestly? They should've called the whole race weekend after Ratzenberger's accident. I know at the Monaco GP that same year Heinz Harald Frentzen was nearly killed in a huge shunt coming out the tunnel. It was just a bad year for Formula 1. I think cos of the sudden drastic changes in removing technology from those cars instead of it being gradual, caught a lot of guys out. They were used to these monster 1000HP cars that had traction control, and then there was nothing.

Also bought it, it was beyond epic, quite moving as well.

Back in the day, & I've been watching F1 since Senna was driving
for the Black and Gold team which Kimi drives for now called Lotus,
we never had that much coverage of the drivers like we have now.
F1 info was quite limited, you used to have the race and that was
it. Nowdays you have all forms of interviews etc, so you get to understand the personality of the drivers a bit better these days.

So this documentary provides excellent behind the scences footage
never seen at the races and much more and you kind of understand
the type of person he was, outside of being the driver. I remember
watching that fatal race as it unfolded, was one of the saddest days
in F1 ever......:nonono:

Heven you will NOT regret it, it is brilliant. Probably the best movie I have seen in a long time period.

ASH,I agree, back in those days you had the race, adverts, interviews, and Graeme Duxbury....:roflol:

The access now days is unreal compared to then, and it takes away from the mystique a little bit. But that movie was an unreal eye opener.

Hey, Graeme Duxbury is a Boss! :)

He drives a FF now if I'm not mistaken....

LOL! He made good modems but his F1 commentary left a little to be desired. I tell you who was damn good was Hendrik Verwoed (the TV dude!),he really knew his stuff back then. Those guys were so much better than those chops SuperSport use now. I am sorry but Sasha Martinengo is......this is a family forum so I shall refrain from posting the rest of this message....:fencelook:

I was of the same opinion to be honest. And when I was watching F1 back in those days I didn't think of him in the nicest way. You need to see the movie and then put all of what you know into context with what was happening at the end of his life.
The other thing, Gilles Villeneuve was considered the greatest driver of his era (late 70's) without winning a championship, and he is also dead. Sometimes the longevity of a driver is not determined by his skill level, but by the tools he has to do his job.

i watched Senna about 6times already.
i managed to get it a few weeks after release....with subtitles and with Directors commentary

What is absolutely amazing is that the whole movie/doccie is made of actual video footage of the actual characters and the capturing the actual emotions on screen. Nothing had to be made up.

What a piece!

AND you get apps for your smart phones that allows you track everything that goes on. I love technology but it's taken away some of that, well, that I don't want to know everything kinda way of life,if that makes sense!

Lol @ the Bob Mabena quip ASH!:roflol:

He was one of a kind. F1 lost a true hero. Makes the current F1 drivers look a bit limp. Racing was racing in those days - not like the 60 odd lap procession it is today. I must watch this movie.

RIP Senna :praise:
