Movie: Senna

Has anyone watched the movie Senna?

So I watched it last night, and I have to admit it absolutely moved me. Now let me put this into perspective, I have followed F1 for MANY years and was about 12 or 13 when Senna started winning championships.
I grew up in a house where my dad was an avid Nigel Mansell fan so it was a case of intense dislike for Ayrton Senna. We were always willing him to spin or crash out so that someone else could win. But such was McLaren's dominance in those days that rarely happened.
So after watching a 12 minute Top Gear special a couple of years ago,I was intrigued by what was said about Senna. So I watched the movie last night.
All I can say is that I wish they had shown the continual uphill battle he had against the politics in the sport at the time he was driving,I think the man would have been revered as a demigod in Formula 1 and the world.
I am now sorry I didn't support him as a kid,the story about him is unreal, and for anyone that is a true DRIVER fan of Formula 1,you will appreciate this movie immensely.

Yep it is a excellent movie, I enjoyed it - my favorite part is the interview with Jackie Stewart

He owned Jackie Stewart in that interview didn't he? Like the dude that got owned by Nelson Piquet before the 1990 Japanese Grand Prix.....

It was an awesome movie, and I have so much new respect for Ayrton Senna.:praise:

Cant wait for Rush. James Hunt is also a boss.

What I used to love about James Hunt was he never beat around the bush,he called a spade a spade, whereas he had the VERY politically correct Murray Walker sitting next to him!

It was an absolutely brilliant biography of the legend. I was also really moved after watching it.
I have such respect for the man, if not for the crash I think Schumacher would not have had as many titles to his name :fencelook:
Also was very young when he died but been an avid fan of F1 from back way back when and been brushing up on my racing history since primary school.

Senna's driving skill in the wet :praise::praise::praise:

Watched it a few months ago. I honestly was too small to remember Senna racing, but after watching that movie I have immense respect for that man, his accomplishments, and what he believed in

What got to me most about the movie was the day he died, you could see he KNEW something was going to happen after the Barrichelo and Ratzenberger accidents. The unease in the man was unreal.I had a huge lump in my throat.

His skill,to drive a car with 1000BHP,with NO ABS,with NO power steering, with a manual gearshift, unreal. If he hadn't died he would hold every record in the book. When you look at drivers now, yeah they have skill, but nothing compared to the drivers of Senna's day,and especially not of the man himself.

100% bud. That was REAL driving skill.
That was also the part of the movie that really got to me, gave me goosebumps watching those final moments.

Shew,I am getting goosies just thinking about it now. I think that his death proved to be the catalyst for a lot of the changes that then happened in F1, funnily enough changes HE had wanted to have done while he was still alive.
You could see by the way he reacted to Ratzenberger's death that he was a deeply emotional man.

Was a really epic movie, also great to get an insight into the behind the scenes footage of F1.

There's also a documentary titled Racing Legends - Sir Stirling Moss. Found in on the YouTube thread that is also worth a watch.

It's like 50 Shades for petrol heads this movie, and anybody who wants to dispel the myth of exactly WHO Ayrton Senna was.

Geez they really did hate each other didn't they? But how odd that the Saturday before he died he did that banner for Prost saying that he missed his friend. It's creepy.

There were just so many personalities in F1 in those days, something the sport lacks intensely at the moment. What I did find interesting was that the Prost/Senna issue was almost identical to the Alonso/Hamilton issue from a few years back. Ron Dennis seems to like his teammates fighting in public.
