Motorplan Extension F30 330d

Hi guys

I have a 2015 F30 330d, it's coming out of motorplan in September(already had one year extension), and I can extend one more year.
I've just reached 80k km, recently managed to get new top mounts for the front shocks, rear discs and pads, and front pads changed.

Bmw want R23k to extend the plan for one year/or till 100k km if I'm not mistaken.

Not sure if I'm posting in the correct section, I am still a newbie here

Any advice on whether to extend or not would be appreciated.

Thanks!

I'd probably say no just because you've just gotten BMW to replace a whole bunch of big ticket wear items (I'm guessing that service probably cost around R30k+) that won't be going pop in the next year. Has the car ever given you any issues? If not then I'd probably pocket that R23k and run it privately.

Hi , my MP on my 330d expired in January 2019, had about 75000km at the time.
i did not extend, however i purchased the black oil special for R4500 and got 3 oil services, (1 more to go)
on my last service I replaced all filters was R2200.
only other maintenance item i did was brake pads, i Purchased Febi Bilstein pads and sensors and got an Indy workshop to fit, think it was R1200 all in for the fronts

That was my main aim, to try and get them to replace brakes etc before plan is up.
That invoice came to R18k and some change.
I don't have the bigger Mperformance brakes so maybe thats why it was a bit cheaper. And front discs weren't changed, only pads, I did try though

Car hasn't given any issues. Steering Rack was previously replaced at around 45k km. I know this is a common issue sometimes. I only have the car for a few months, but from looking at the service history it hasn't given any real issues at all.

Thanks for the advice

This is what I was also thinking about going for, the black oil service package. Can you do the oil changes at the intervals you choose, or only when bmw says its due? If you can choose your intervals between oil changes I'll definitely go for it.

Thanks man. Maintenance costs do not seem too bad then!

Appreciate the advice.

Basically you get 3 oil changes over a period of 24 months from date of purchase.
you can use them at any time depending on how much mileage you do.

Motorplan = Insurance for your mechanical bits on your car...

There is a certain peace of mind that your cheque account has with an active plan on your car however if you have a reliable workshop that you would rather support then the 23k should be kept for those unforeseen expenses.

Thanks man. Will keep this in mind

Seeing that you will be out of plan soon, you need to budget for oil services every 10,000km - especially, if you want the motor to last long after plan. The 20,000km or conditioned based service requirement from BMW is not great for longer term engine reliability.

Thanks man. Yes that is the plan. Cut the intervals down and do whatever preventative maintenance I can

Much of this depends heavily on how many issues you have had on the car.
Much of this depends on unforeseen circumstances as well.

I have previously extended plan on vehicles and in every case was very glad that I did. If i hadnt, I would have been bankrupted at the time.

IT seems also that the closer your car gets to 100k kms, the more problems you have. Basically the cars now are designed to run to MP end date. Thats. I had a brake fluid service due in jJan, the sunroof refused to close, they had to disassemble and reassemble after replacing the crush sensor and rubbers. They disassembled the whole driver side door to resolve a squeal from poor design, and the boot lock kept jamming and was disassembled and replaced.

This mind you is on a 2017 G30.

The bill for all this was 22k.

I would have shat myself had this happened without MP, and Jan we pay school fees.

I prefer the peace of mind that extending the MP gives me, although it seems to be getting more expensive each time.

I will have to make this decision in a few months as well.

I get what you're saying, and it makes sense.
It can be very expensive to fix things.

I ended up not extending the motorplan, my car didn't give me any issues. Before it came out of motorplan I also got the egr changed, new vibration damper pulley etc.

I do have an aftermarket warranty though for some peace of mind.

Currently on 88k km with no issues. 330d ftw

330d is a work horse.... Keep the 23k in an account and collect interest on it.
Keep the maintenance in check and these cars last forever with minimal issues.
I agree!

I always do preventative maintenance zf box service was done at 84k km. And normal oil changes will be done every 8-10k km.
