Mechanical Warranties

Hi All,

The motor plan on my E90 320d is coming to an end and I would like your opinion on the after market mechanical warranties available to us all.

1. Is it worth it to take out one of these mechanical warranties?
2. Which one of the hundreds available to us is the best value for money?

I bought my 2007 320d at about 70k kms. It's now on 130k kms. And the only major part I've replaced is a crank shaft pulley. Which wasn't covered under the warranty. My opinion is they're a waste.

It depends on the warranty you have, my warranty covered my crank shaft pully, paid for my towing and for my car hire.

Newbie.

Just bought a 2011 320i auto with 63000km.

1) Are there any major expenses I can expect over the next 50000km?

2) Motorplan ends in July this year, quote is R12k to extend for a year. Is it advisable? Anyone know of the Motorite cost?

Paid R15000 for one of those warranties when i bought my car, E90 325i with 84000 KM ,the 2 years expire end of this month and i never claimed for anything as the car has not broken down in that time.
Don't think I'm going to be buying another warranty again.

i havent signed up yet.. was doing some homework
