Hi all

Okay need to get a set of mats, any recommendations (I see there are quite a few options) and are there any good "generic" sets out there?

Thanks :)

I got a cheap smooth rubber set with the prickly underside from the Naskar shop the other day (+/- 100 ront) to throw over the velour mats, incase of oily/muddy/landmine infested soles ever accidentally entering the sanctum of my footwell. I cut the driver mat to fit the shape of the velour.

If these are anything to give advice on, DONT buy them unless you are okay with adding two nylon stitches to keep them from sliding up to the pedals. If they are light and thin rubber don't buy them, rather go for the heavier 'cheapies' that go for around 200 ront +. they sit better and stay there.

I will probably replace these with better heavy rubber ones later on, and add the cheapies to the footwell of my beach buggy. (untill I can get the mats custom cut for that project as well of course. :p )

I actually found a decent set of carpet cheapies at Makro that match the interior. Like you mentioned they do slip around, but I solved this by putting velcro strips on the bottom. Now they sit nicely :)

I've ultimately decided to go for a set of factory velour mats as soon as I can see myself parting with R900 for them

I actually have the velour mats, but still want something handy-andy-able to step onto incase I step into the car with something nasty on the soles. Its always easy to wash a rubber/plastic mat, but carpets dont always recover. Specially necessary if I'm sharing pavement with an old beetle... :drip:

The nice thing is the mats I have in now, match , they look like they belong in the car, I managed to fix my slipping problem with the BIG stapler we have in the office to staple BIG summons or founding affidavits etc, it uses BIG staples :joy:
Then hide the little grey stripe with a perm-marker, :ninjadust:

Now they dont slip, I can pick it up and vacuum the bits of grass etc that land in the car, and can wash the rubber mat if it gets anything on it
