Hi all,
Last month I had my brake pads and discs done at the dealership. They forgot to log it onto my service history (viewable on infotainment system) but I didn't think much of it, figured they could do it retrospectively next time I went.
Fast forward to recently, I went in to the same dealership and did an oil service. I told them about the history issue, to which they gave me a whole shpeel about software not being up to date etc. so it wasn't pulling from the 'back end'.
The service advisor then tells me that my software is out of date and needs to be updated - all modules need to be updated to latest software - so that the service history can be entered. He tells me that there's a risk that things could go wrong which they would not be liable for.
Funny enough, I have had no issues with these service logs at a different dealership.
This all sounds very fishy to me. On one hand, his scare tactic (if that's what it is to avoid doing the work) is working, on the other hand, I would like my software to be updated - particularly my nav unit to a version > NBTevo_X so that I can bimmercode it for full screen CarPlay.
Open to opinions and suggestions.
TIA
