MAF / ICV clean

Anybody had the urge to strip and clean the MAF and ICV on there cars... specially e46 318i FL

Looking to do it over the easter weekend as an excuse to get out of working in the garden

The yanks have something called CRC cleaner which is intended to be used on these sensors. What do we have here as a substitute ?

Hi Is this CRC cleaner a electrical contact / switch cleaner ?
You should get it from guys like Momar etc , or electrical suppliers .
( Let it soak for 3 hours while you do the gardening !!!:excited: ok rather follow instructions on can )

I read some more on the yankie e46 sites, seems they use carb cleaner.

What i did realise from reading the various posts... it would appear that the Facelift 318i motor does not have a idle control valve. Found a thread with one guy trying to solve arough idle on his FL e46 ( N42 engine ) Many peeps recomended that he clean MAF and ICV... he then replied that he has done MAF and that he cant do ICV becaise he has the N42 motor which = no ICV.
