M3 CSL Tyres

Guys,

Sorry for the bombardment with questions. With my recent purchase of the CSL, which arrives late next week, I have decided to change all 4 tyres as the car was sat for so long I believe the current tyres have flat spots (although plenty of tread)

I believe she has 265 30 19 at the back and 235 30 19 in the front.

Any recommendations on what tyres to get (I dont want the cup tyres) and where in Cape Town to get them.

I have always been a Michelin man, but I have heard good things about the Hankooks.

Thanks for your help.

:bravo:

My 1st choice is the Michelin Pilot Sport Cup+ and my second choice Michelin Pilot Super Sport and my third choice is Michelin Pilot Sport 2. This car deserves a decent set of tyres.

Agreed, you get to experience 'more' of the car with good tyres.

Yeah don't go cheap on the rubber, even on my V6 Tiburon, I got a brilliant deal on Bridgestone Potenza SE001's recently, having had the car in numerous trackdays I know where its limits are, the SE001's have extended those limits that much further making it much more chuckable and it just sticks to the road like glue.

Although miles apart in comparison performance wise, the same will hold true for a CSL with top end tyres vs. lower end ones.

Congrats on getting a CSL

+1 on good tyres for this car.

However, I think OEM front tyre size is 235/35/19. Rear is correct.

Someone can confirm.

I tried Hankook after reading so many good reviews, and what a load of rubbish they are. Michelin PSS is the way to go. Well worth the money.

Just check the manufacturing date.

If less than 5 years, then just drive the flat spots out of them

Is this a genuinely viable option ? because the tryes have 90 percent tread left.

Michelin SA say there are no SuperSports or PS2s in that size in SA, a few dealers have confirmed this.

So it seems my options are:

GoodYear F1's
Khumo Ku31
Falken SK 435

Any personal reviews...

No its not.
What you need to do is spash out R16k minimum on new tyres and leave the old ones for me.
I will collect

Oh yes.... I got my CSL with new Khumos and I think they are sh!t

Michelin and the CSL are a perfect match. Any one in their range.

I agree! Problem is I have called about 20 tyre dealers in cape town and durban and I get the same story, no stock in SA.

i have had the pleasure of goodyear eagle F1 on a 5er in a downpour of note and can say that they were exceptional at that time and place.. i cant say much more than that.. international forums have had good things to say about them..
