I understand why this test was done, but its actually cruel to put the Cupra against the M235i...

Same power to weight ratio. Just shows how superior the BMW is. Cupra had DSG. BMW was manual. What I don't understand is why they don't follow that up with a rolling start. I wonder how the Golf 7 R or the Audi S3 would do against the Cupra. I am left with more questions than answers.

Nice ........but I've being plagued by thoughts of late......

Remember the days when Bmw used to ring good power and performance out of smaller blocks and would wallop or compete with bigger blocks....right

Now we have AMG ,RS and even 7R 2l blocks against our M235i 3L blocks :fencelook:

Is it because we still playing catch up on Aspiration tech ?

I was always proud to boast to fellow car chaps how our 4l V8 would compete with a fat 6.2 (wrongly badged 6.3 blah blah history...yes ) Merc's

Interesting test.

They should have had the A44 Amg in that test as well.
Front wheel vs rear vs 4.

So true, the other guys have been building 2l turbo cars for 2 even 3 generations already.
But I think its more than just playing catch up, you can't have 2l turbo in a x35i. Marketing wise, it just doesn't make sense. BMW has already lost straight 6 NA, to loose all 6 cylinders will be a financial mistake at this point in time.

@ZMC, Think he is saying that R400 is a 2L is going to tear our 3 and 4LT beemers apart, he is trying to say in the old days it was reversed and BMW would be producing a smaller killer of an engine to fight the bigger engines
