m20b27 head

Hello manne!

I was hoping someone could assist me with a question. Is there a differance between the intake ports on a fuel injection head and a non fuel injection head? If we were to get a carb and manifold would it be a straight bolt on? My reason for asking is my boy would like to convert to carb as the fuel injection is just way to much headache.

Or maybe I should ask how difficult is it to go from fuel injection to carb on the m20b27.

Thanx

the head from the 200 casting head has smaller ports than the 885 and 731 assuming that is the head you have seeing that you listed m20 b27 ?form a 525e ?
i wouldnt go carbs unless its side draughts , best to replace the ariflow meter or at very best add management and your sorted.

I'll check the casting no's tonight and post. He has side's in mind. Price for the intake is R2500, then the sides, jetting and setup :-(

Hi Ballisticz,

Side draughts would be super on the M20 - its been proven.

However, and this is with a big how! The money you are going to spend on the sidies alone is going to set you back - and not to mention the tuning on those carbs.

Best bet - Go dictator or Spitronics(+-3k), wire it into your setup, not changing anything else, and you have a setup that can be tuned.

Its going to be a lot less of a ball ache, at the end of the day.

While we at it - lets think of fuel consumption on a set of sidies....you would probably need 3 side draughts to run the M20...you could go with 2, but then you may be starving some at some point or the other.

Think wisely about it. I am not steering you away from it, heck - I would be the one shouting from the crowd...."Rev it", all I am saying is, spend the money wisely - not in a way where you think your beloved beemer has become a deep deep deep money pit.

These guys speak sense. While side draughts would be an awesome addition, the cost is prohibitive both in parts and fuel.

Consider a management system and be done with it

Hey Jaydrift.

Its my sons car, so its his pocket that gonna be eaten lol. I do than kyou guys for all the info given. The petrol issue does make sense. I will look into the management and then speak to my boy about it. Any ideas as to what management would be best suited for this engine?

Or should I say the management that would require the least amount of change possible.

Why use candles when you can switch the lights on at the wall switch. Sidies will sound great, look awesome but there are very few people who are able to tune them to perform/work flawlessly. I have the T-shirt.

should you decide to fit a management system i have a new spitronics intermediate unit unused in box i will let it go for less than what i payed for it as my plans have changed and i no longer need it .
