I also spec'd my own car but if u want that exact spec u gonna have to wait.
All the first cars are arriving for delivery mid April.
It takes 3 months to go from spec to delivery.
Thus this means that all the cars arriving in April are pre spec'd by BMW SA.

So if you waiting to get your own exact spec'd car it will only arrive at least 3 months after mid April. If u lucky.

To add onto that.
Yes you have spec'd a car but it hasn't be allocated to the build schedule.
Non of the BMW dealers in SA can do this yet..
This is why I say I will wait to see what cars the dealer gets allocated with.
They will get 2 or 3. If I'm happy with the spec I will take one.
If not I'll pass and wait for my own spec'd car to be built and delivered. Which will be a while from now. Maybe august..

Agree with that but I was under the impression that we are not getting cars unless orders get put in. So we should receive allocations for April/May in March. I could be wrong but my dealer told me that there will be only allocation orders. Just wondering. Because I'm third on the list at my dealer (behind the owner and son) but they are getting allocation ordered cars as far as I know. If I am wrong and there is pre specced cars coming first and you perhaps don't want it, I will happily take your spot :').

Come to think of it, I may have never even asked my dealer about a pre-specced car. He sorta never even mentioned anything about it either ... I'm going to make a call now =')

Response from my dealer: 'I suppose there will be pre specced cars. If any of these become available, they will be allocated for sale, and should i be able to offer one, i will give you a call' ... Guess he is not really sure.

Would go dct even tho it may be a weekend car, manual yes is more fun but the dct is pretty awesome and you wouldn't regret it

I reported BMWSA and my dealership to the motor industry ombudsman for failing to honour their commitment of first allocation to build when the allocations open up . I also reported matter to competitions commissioner asking them to see why the acquiring dealership is monopolizing the allocations on M2 . The wait is too long

I have had the same problem, well still have the same. DCT just seems more reasonable for me since I'm keeping the car for the 5 years and do a lot of traffic driving everyday. Been driving an auto for the last 6 years but I do miss my manuals. This is why I keep changing my mind from day to day. It's just so tough to decide but I think either will be amazing. Great DCT box's are very fun to drive even without the manual feel.

Just for interest sake.

Notice how some runs were very close and others not. DCT is definately more consistent.

If you don't miss a shift AND know how row a gear quickly, then the manual should be very close to a DCT from a rolling start.

The biggest difference is you do not have Launch control if you go Manual. With DCT you can put a monkey behind the wheel and get stupid fast launches. With the manual, it would be down to skill and finesse as to how close it would be.

Fast manual shift times are in the 200ms range and can go even lower with a slick short throw gearbox.

The shift lag on DCT if you swap a gear to one the gbox did not pre-select is also horrid.

I guess if you are looking for every straight line advantage you can get, dct is the way to go, but driver involvement give me a stick....I think the M2 is just the right size car to enjoy it in manual (round about e46 size I stand corrected )

Looks like dct gets the initial jump then manual seems to catch up afterwards

Looks like the manual is a Wednesday car and the DCT is a Friday car.

I dont mind being the monkey behind the wheel, as long as I am in front :crazylaugh:

6mt is the way to go because a lot more people will get them in DCT so the 6mt will hold it value more because true enthusiast will be willing to pay more for a 6mt and it will be more fun to drive and cheaper if something goes wrong. Plus if there are enough 6mt orders BMW will still make mt boxes.
