Howsit guys,

so i took my car for some toys and was very happy, stock i made 216wkw and 465nm then i fitted jb4 , rogue dp and bms intake and 30%eth and made 277wkw and 664nm on map 6... when i first drove the car i was amazed by the power and it felt great.. since then done about 2 tanks on map 2 and yesterday was suppose to run an m4 and when i poured 30% eth again and switched map6 car was just dead... it got better through the night but still not normal... its as if at around 5000rpm it completely cuts out even the sound changes to like stock and it stops pulling... iv done some research and it might be plugs , car hitting fail safe boost limiter ? has this happened to anyone ? another thing my eth says 96% and i always read about e85 is it suppose to be 85%eth ? sorry bout the stupid questions still new to this and trying to learn about jb4.

does anyone know why its doing this ?

What is your fail safe? Try Map 7 or mail a log. Is your car EWG?

its ewg yes... i haven tried map 7 i understand thats for when you have meth aswell ? and i still need to download the jb4 app to be able to do all the logs and stuff..

I have made 295wkw then 306wkw on F30 EWG model with EWG specific JB board. Vehicle only has BMW PPK but these cars are very sensitive. Get a USB cable (for logs) I have in stock. Add BP98 with 20% and try Map7 or post your Map 6 settings.

Hope you get to the bottom of it. The EWGs are putting down good power indeed. :cartel:

Out of curiosity is there a way to dynamically swop maps while in the car? Can the JB4 app do that? Or is it just for diagnostic. Sorry for the derail..

Sounds like an excessive E85 mix (over 30%) and/or boost targets exceeding fueling capacity while on E85.

From BMS:
As a general rule EWG cars are not very E85 friendly. If reliability is a concern no more than 30% E85 should be used and the highest map used should be map 2. Using map 5 or map 7 with E85 mixtures may result in boost running high enough to exceed your fueling capacity triggering various codes and/or JB4 safety map 4 switches. If you are more experienced and able to analyze your own logs you are welcome to play around, but we've instructed technical support NOT to provide assistance or advice to anyone exceeding map 2 when using E85 with the EWG platform. If you run map 5 or 7 on E85, run in to problems, and ask for help, you'll get the company line of "for E85 use no higher than 30% and map 2". For more power consider race gas instead of E85, or add in a methanol kit allowing use of map 3.

Run some logs and you'll likely confirm the above.

Best is to log map 2 and then map 5 to see what the car is doing. Check target boost vs actual boost and see if it's hitting target or boosting above target boost.

It took me plenty logging and emails to burger tuning and now car is almost perfect. Still busy with my map6 though. Not too phased about it as I run map 3 for meth

I'm still gobsmacked that jb4 units are being sold with out the USB cables. They are an integral part of the entire system. Even if you price without the cable, they should at least tell the client is very important to have one. [SEE-NO-EVIL MONKEY]

And then....I'm even more gob smacked at guys who are not willing to shell out the R500 for a cable. I mean you spending 7k upwards on a tune, when you modding, do it properly.

To the OP..hope everything get sorted.

thanks so much everyone for the help... car was voost creeping and my failsafe was set at 21psi and at around 5000rpm it would hit 21 and continue to climb to 23psi so then the fail safe would kick in... to keep it below 21psi fail safe level we had to drop the required boostto about 18psi... its dropped about 10wkw and 50nm but atleast it pulls smooth now... i mainly run map 2 though for daily... does someone know how much power u need to make from a m135 to beat an m4 ? ibsee they weigh the same so i assume about 295wkw

Hi James,
Glad you are sorted out. Two quick questions:
1) you attempting those boost targets with stock chargepipe?
2) how do you determine that the car is surpassing 21psi and continuing to climb to 23psi, if the stock 2.5bar Tmap sensor will be blind beyond 21psi?

My fail safe is also 21psi. Never been close to that though. 18.5 max with meth on. Pulls nice and solid. Running over 21 psi on that tiny turbo won't help with the turbo lasting. If you saw the size of the turbo you would be shocked. It's tiny:thumbdo:

I can safely say a 300wkw M135i is not going to beat a well driven M3/M4

Theres alot of M135/235s that feel their car is fast but please be realistic its fast for beating a Golf it not ///M fast. Turbo upgrade is a must on the N55s before thinking of taking on a F series ///M

Stan and Rodney know me well and I have raced a few M135s that they did and lets just say it was ///M all the way
