M135i exhaust advice needed

Hi all

I would like some advice with regards to the exhaust on my M135 (LCI).
Last year I got an MPE fitted and I'v enjoyed it so far however I'm looking for just a little bit more now.

Without ruining the insurance or voiding the cars warranty/maintenance plan, is there anything extra that can be done?

I know the the mid-pipe is a fairly easy and cheap mod you can do?

Thanks!

Get the M Performance Exhaust for it. Sounds great and adds to performance. The warranty will not be affected at all

You can do a JB4 Chip on it. They are very effective. When its time for a service you just unplug it and send in for service. They are able to do custom mapping on it so will get the best out of your car

Howzit,

I've also got the LCi M135i with the MPE as well. I've disconnected the valve in the MPE to enjoy the sound more.

Yup, I have heard that the JB4 gives amazing performance. This might sound like a stupid question but does it add to the exhaust sound, in particular acceleration and over-run?
I will probably be selling it at the end of the year so I would like to enjoy the last year of ownership as much as possible! Thanks.

So if I'm not mistaken, the Valve does automatically open on acceleration (in Sport and Sport +), so what you've done basically just keeps it open all the time instead?

Thats correct, its permanently open. Make sure its already open when you disconnect it

Ok cool - I have seen the guys do it on the UK forums quite a bit.
The only thing I would still like to do is have the over-run and gearshift pop/bangs a little bit louder.
It just sounds like there's still something muffling the sound even with the MPE fitted...

Is yours a Manual or Auto?

I've got the Auto. I always drive in Sport (the button) and the gear lever to the left in Sport, then use the paddle shifts to change gears which makes the pop/bangs louder

I also have the auto, and mine is basically always in Sport + so I do get those upshift and over-run pops.

I just want to make the overall sound maybe 30% louder if you know what I mean...

I'm in Joburg, Bryanston more specifically.

On a daily basis I have M135/235's coming past my apartment that sound incredible. I wish I knew what they have done though, haha.

I've also heard some of them down here in Cape Town. They've probably done the JB4, intake and downpipe

Probably. It seems the downpipe is a bit more expensive and a bit more effort to install.
A lot of guys in the UK have installed a mid-pipe basically from after the cat to the rear silencer that just removes the little resonator and silencer in the middle of the exhaust.
They're 2 small boxes that seems to make a nice difference.

I'm not sure if anyone in the JHB area has done that though?
