Loud fan on 335i

Guys I never ever hear my fan coming on. Bit lately it comes on and is very loud.

Even after being parked for a little while, it comes on as soon as I start.

Could it be due to the excessive heat? Cos I never experienced this with my 330i.

I have read up that if the fan comes on when cold, it could be waterpump related. But this happens when warm and I changed my waterpump about 5000km ago.

Is anyone else experiencing the same?

The fan has to modes...that loud noise is the cars fan going in max cool mode. Due to the temperature in JHB at the moment, and us using the aircon much more, its kicking in. I wouldnt stress. Use your jb/mhd to monitor water temps if you really concerned

Interesting, this afternoon when I stopped at my flat I also heard the fan louder than my engine. So first thing I did was switch off the aircon via switch inside, the fan stopped spinning.

Maybe test that next time when the fan is trying to lift off. But suppose it is normal. And who doesnt smack their auto switch all the way to 16°C on those lovely round dials

Me I suppose... My A/C is on Auto 20C year round

Anyway. It is logical. We require more of the aircon this time of year and the car requires more of the cooling system this time of year, so everything is working harder

Mine did the same and it was my waterpump on its way out

This is correct. Usually happens when the fan kicks in yet the car is cold.
