Hi Guys

I'm looking at buying an E90 335i. I have seen a few around for about
R 250 000 with motor plan and averaging around 80 000km on the clock (sport pack models).

I have a few questions:

What gearbox best suites this car (excl DCT)
Automatic?
Steptronic?
Manual?

I know about the recalls on these cars, have any 335i owners experienced any issues after the cars were taken in for the recall repairs.

My current e90 323i has 180 000km on the clock. I have two more years to go before its paid off.

Should a just shut up and pay off the 323i which comes to an end in 2015 or go out and get the 335i?

I dont know what to do?

For me the answer is obvious and sorry for the long reply.

Buying a vehicle is the second most import investment you can make because it is more than a mode of transport, its a second "home" because you spend most of your time in it and so does your family. We always argue that you need to try and settle your house bond the quickest way possible to reduce interest; instead of 20 years go for 10 years etc...

The same with a car...if you have 2 more years left on HP, then try and settle the HP over those two years. Once paid up, you free of the financial burden and the car is yours no matter what happens to your financial situation; all you have to worry about is insurance and car maintenance. You are then also free to purchase a new second car if you so wish.

There was a time when we change cars rapidly, every 2nd year or so and most finance plans make it easy and affordable but at the same time todays cars can provide you with a transport service for a very long time...3 - 5 years is not the maximum life of a car anymore.

Since you have an e90, you basically have a new car in the family and fanatics are known to look well after their cars...i say pay it off over the remaining two years and keep it. Just maintain insurance payments post the HP settlement
