Life after GT5

Got a nice PS3 setup with a seat, racing wheel, etc and enjoying GT5. However, while I'm still at Level 30, I'm getting a wee bit bored. I simply do not have time to do the endurance races and I completed most of the stuff up to that, including seasonal events.

What other good driving titles are there currently (or coming soon) for the PS3 that are in the same/similar league as GT5?

NB: No, I'm not interested in buying/downgrading to an EggBox ....

NFS: Shift was a really awesome game (i'm still playing it). It has a great balance between simulator and arcade feel.

Buying NFS: Shift 2 Unleashed. Just watch some of the trailers (especially the about trailer) and tell me you aren't interested  The engine notes are amazing compared to most other racing/driving games and the feel is good. Buying a new wheel setup just for this game.

I did not enjoy Shift too much. Bit too much of an arcade feel for me compared to GT5. Let me know what you think of Shift 2 ...

Realistic sims are hard to come by as the designers need to appeal to a wider audience i.e. people that don't know how to drive. I gave GT5 a go but it lacked the fun element. Only realistic sim that I play is rFactor with the Formula 1 pack.

Will let you know how Shift 2 goes.

Whats important to note is your preferred type of racing game. there are simulators, arcade and plain out crazy sci fi titles.

Ive found that the best sim is Forza 3. Arcade is Shift 1/2. Sci Fi is Split Second although Blur is also quite nice.

Im a big fan of Carmageddon, having bought all the expansions and the subsequent sequels (all crap compared to the original). there is a new version coming out in 2012, only for the Xbox.

I own both a Ps3 and an Xbox 360. I dont understand why the fanboys mess things up. Both systems are equally great. The Xbox had the advantage of being easier to develop for cos it hit the market before the ps3. The ps3 had much better credentials but was a real pain to develop on (but thats been resolved in the last 2 / 3 years).

I find that the Xbox and the Ps3 offer great gaming functions. When you consider a system for pure gaming, its extremely difficult as both are super as great gaming systems. Kinekt has made the Move and the Wii Kannakt.

The place where ps3 beats out the Xbox is with the multimedia functionality (Bluray FTW, plus add in the recent 3D Bluray update) and youve got one of the best multimedia centres around. plus the ps3 has 7.1 channel output which ousts the Xbox. Im not a fanboy of either system and enjoy gaming on both.

I loved the endurances races on GT4, still got to get there on GT5. You know that you can pull into the pit and put the driving in auto mode and the game will race by itself for a while when you have to get lunch or somthing. What stering wheel do you have and how godd is the feedback on it whne you drive?

Personally every time I play GT5 I just do so for just a couple of minutes before I realize why I don't play it any more, the shear and utter soul crushing disappointment that is GT5

Is that legal?

@Moranor: If you enjoyed 4 then there is no reason to get 5, in my opinion 5 feels like less of a game than 4.
