Hz...While the midnight runs would be fun.....I feel that they will create a 'race session' with too many cars competing, guys driving like idiots...def not for me. This business of passing on the left, in the yellow line ect sucks. Later

how many of you guys would be interested in a track day?

Once my t/day car was up and running again....definately. Where did you have in mind?
Dezzi's in Sheppie would probably be easiest, could maybe piggyback on the BMW club as they're starting to have regular events there. Although one is only able to run 2 cars max. (on a loop in opposite directions) Also if organised by 'Fanatics' there is the issue of MSA. Later

Dezzi track is ideal. I'm in the bmw club so I know when all the events will be happening

I may have a lead on Masons Mill but we will probably need confirmed numbers...

Would love a track day...but dont have a track car

Yulz organised 1 in december which was successful as in we achieved our goal by feeding and giving out toys to +/- 500 people. It was also agreed that we would go out there again and support that organisation that feeds those people

guys dont write off ice cream runs/socials.
we meet up at around ten in evening ant talk about cars, etc, take pictures and eat ice cream.
at around midnight we do a cruise around to to another location, now some of the guys dont go,they either go home or stay and chat, the rest drive at there own pace to the next stop, and you dont have to race, last time out i drove at 120,some times at 150 but thats me
next stop chat with the guys and maybe have a burger

remember, nobody forces you to race or drive fast, you do what you feel you want to

i like the idea of the track days, even if it is just too watch and have a braai:thumbs:

also the charity runs you guys have organised:thumbs:keep it up

Gents...

We must not forget that BMW fanatics started off as (and still is) an internet forum.

It must not be confused with the e30 club and the like, which are primarily car clubs. These are two totally seperate concepts. Yes, it is possible to try and integrate the two, but only to a certain degree. You will never get the rock solid commitment of a dedicated car club set up, because none of us signed up for that. We never made a commitment saying that any of us will dedicate time for any meets, etc. Its more a case of guys will meet up when they can at a time thats convenient for them. I dont agree with guys that promise to come along, but then just dont pitch up, thats crap. The person should know if they can make it or not, and if something comes up, then they should have the decency to give the guys a heads up. Its simple. I for one have not been able to attend any recent meets because I only get one weekend off a month and work shifts, so leisure time time is scarce.

I do agree that meets are great for showing our love for the brand and strengthing fellowship within this forum, but it must be something more in tune with us and the trends we follow. The charity events are great for general philanthrophy and must go on (hats off to the guys that co-ordinate these events, it certainly must be no easy task). The social meets are great, but they often come across as something that is more for family / leisure time due to the time these meets occur and the general activities involved.

I suppose if we really wanted to get some interest going it would be more along the lines of more Midnight runs (DBN guys would know that the usual late hotspots have been quite active recently, so to meet up here and then decide from there could be another option), general car events, track days, legalised drags, etc, anything that would attract our interest in the same way this forum did (i.e car/BMW specific events)

There are some rumors doing the rounds that there is some great soul who forwarded plans for a strip in Camperdown to the municipality for approval. If everything comes together, then we all might be meeting up more often than we think...

I think a track day / motor sport event will be a good starting point....
