KZN Fanatics - Open Discussion/Suggestions

So following on from the points raised in our paintball thread I would like to open up this discussion to all the KZN fanatics whose names are on the KZN registry, all 66 of you, yet many are unable to join us for our runs.
As a result we have a few disgruntled Durbz fanatics whom make many an effort to come for our runs and even contribute financially toward charity runs but it isn't enough and we do not make the impact desired like that of JHB and CPT due to it always only being the regular 6-8 attendees.

I will use the last charity run as a prime example, we needed to raise funds, without the contribution of JHB fanatics and the twincam guys we would never have raised enough, the regulars even offered a second donation. It is a bit sad considering the numbers on the KZN registry. Then there were 26 names on the attendance list, worked out to about 20 cars that should have been there but ended up with 11 cars and 15 people and no excuses. People just flaked.

We try our best and plan runs way ahead of the date sometimes 2-3 months ahead like the charity runs.
So I appeal to you guys, please suggest how we can change this poor attendance for our runs? What type of events would you guys like to attend in the future? The events that would make you want to pitch up everytime?

Currently charity runs are a must and has been agreed to be held at a minimum every 3 months.
We have our fun events such as paintball/karting etc.

So anything else? Feel free to post your thoughts and ideas.
Let's improve and have at least 20 cars for our next run.

What's done is done now so let's avoid any added negativity and unwarranted criticisms of the past few runs, some positive feedback and constructive ideas are required.

Hi guys

Won't be able to attend any of the DBN runs or charity events as I'm in the Western Cape now.

Sadly the charity run was the only run that I was able to attend.

Sorry guys.

Good stuff. Things like that are understandable

I got a PM I would like to share from another province he want to help us but does not want to come across as interfering:

just read the paintball thread.seems like you guys had a good time,
regarding the number of people attending, what i have noticed here.

is that if it is a morning thing we seem to get small numbers,

if a day event then guys will pop in and out through out the day,

and of course the best is the night events

with the night events, the wifes go to bed and the guys can go out and play, where as the day events there is always family stuff planned,

what you guys should do and try is different things and as many as possible,to get exposure and to get guys to one or more events.

we always get the regulars, but we have at least 3 to 4 a month and we always see new faces on 1 of them

hope it helps and you guys start to pull it off again

from my own perspective the KZN guys are not as active on the forum as CPT and JHB and im sure this has some impact on the numbers... If you interacting often on the forum and making new friends you are far more lightly to want to meet up IRL

so get posting tell stories and let people know who you are so they do not feel like they are just driving out to see some random strangers :)

Hi guys

I only got my First BMW last week.
As someone did mention, yes some of us have family.
I get to spend very little time with them.
I will in future try my best to make as many events as possible.
I do try contribute on the forum too.
I was invited via bbm on the chat, but it leterally killed my phone, so I had to remove myself from the chat. sorry.
I think too many meets will be far worse.
I will hook up at the next one.

 great stuff guys remember most of us are on this forum for the love of the brand and if we all stick together we can host some great hookups. These hookups are not about who has the hottest or fastest bmw or who has the biggest sound or rims its about a bunch of guys who love their cars and the brand... :inlove:

More so, building on this, many of us have become great personal friends over the years and it all started from joining these runs. The regular guys are in constant contact (literally) and we have informal meets where we meet up on weekend evenings for drinks and pool etc.
So it may start with the love of the brand and our cars but you end up meeting a nutty but awesome bunch of okes, doing good for the community at large and just having a blast :joy:

For the guys that have not yet attended any events maybe give us a suggestion as to what events would interest you ie. car show, drags, informal meet, show n shine etc. This would help with the planning of future events.

No sweat buddy. Next time we doing an informal meet we will let you know so you can join us. It's normally an unplanned event and at short notice (couple of hours) but hopefully you can meet us even if its for a short while

My experiences with meeting with people that belong to BMW clubs down in durban:

My experience has been with the E30 Club SA and a few random bbm meet ups. Guys lack commitment and general leadership - hardly anyone is willing to make a solid decision and lead the guys. Possibly why there's such a relaxed attitude toward these meets. My dad and brothers attend bmw fanatics meets in durbs when they can, so do a few of my close friends (yunus, azhar, shezaad, sheshvir, nasheel). Of those 5 people mentioned above, only one is active on this forum, and he's too young to drive his own BMW. So this leads me to this, what are you guys doing to attract more members, committed members??

That being said, the last bmw meet I went for in durbs drew almost 40 cars. Nobody identified themselves as a fanatics forum member, and we had the stickers on the two M3s which makes you think, where were the Fanatics???? I mean I'm from jhb and I had to post pics of the event. I know this critisism is scathing, but if you guys want the current mindset to change, what changes have you made in your strategy to ensure sustainability?

Just my thoughts
