Keyless start trick useful for winter and summer

I have done this before and it definitely works. I just don't have any use for this "function"

I've tested it too back when I had an e90.
It supposedly also allows you to hand your car over for valet parking where it can be parked (but not locked or restarted of course) without handing over the key to the parking attendant too. Probably not recommended in SA...

Tried this a while back. Worked for me but I have no use for this feature

Also tried it - Maybe in SA it would be when you need to hand over your keys to the guys highjacking you - you could start and drive off.

Not sure how far you can go before the car switches off

I do not think the car switches off until you do so.

When you hand you car in at BMW, they ask you to keep your key which you take to the Service adviser, they put the key reader while someone parks your car. Other than this, I don't see any use for it.

Perhaps it's useful if the car needs to be "stolen", but the insurance company demands both keys :fencelook:

Or if the car is part of a divorce settlement, it can be handed over to the ex-spouse for a one way drive to you know where.

Tried this a while ago on the E82 and it works. Pretty much a useless feature in SA if you ask me :eek:mgwaiting:

I tried this on both my E90s and it worked. The only good reason i found for it was if i go into the shops on a blistering hot day, leave the car running with the aircon on and being bale to lock it. when I come out, unlock the doors and jump into an ice cold car and drive off immediately.

Guess I've found a new use for this :tiptoe:

I actually drove from around 14km away from the key with no issue.

Kinda stupid but really wanted to try.

Its a not so comfort added feature.

maybe cool if you're in a rush with a turbo car & you want it to run for a little and not just switch off immediately
