So gentlemen and ladies.

A lot of the guys from last week will yet again be gracing us with their presence, the question is;

WILL YOU??

Where: Samrand Shell on the N1 NORTH bound

Time: 22h00-24h00

Why: Because we all like ice cream.

How: In your BMW or other socially acceptable method of transportation

Who: YOU!

Bring your camera and a spare jacket, and some spare change for my next JB :fencelook:

**JUST REMEMBER THIS IS AN ICE CREAM MEET UP, AND NOT A RACE MEET UP!!**

wasnt the icon

was other stuff i witnessed, and dont want to see the forum name going down

the original ice cream events were about cruising from location to location, doing a 250km drive at night,it now has become about illegal racing, which the forum is against, therefore i cannot support this kind off events

a social is fine, but after that is where the forum name could be dragged down

This hookup ends the minute you leave the Shell Samrand Garage. Where you go to after that is your prerogative.
Right now this banter reflects badly on me which I feel is rather inappropriate

Unfortunately it doesn't look like I'm not going to make it.
If my ex keeps her word I get to see my kids this weekend.
Will only know on the night.
Looks like yet another week without my Plastidip.
Maybe if Thunder is going I'll ask him to pick it up for me.

Colin, it's not a new phenomena, it's just more prevalent. Sad but true. I'm saying this with tongue in cheek though. I have only driven in 2 of the meets. The previous times I have gone home when the guys leave the Shell garage. And with good reason. I must admit, I enjoyed the Harties and Parys trips a lot more. :fencelook:

so our main organizer is pulling out?

I am rather concerned about this. In the past the runs or ice cream runs as its known, was a social gathering, driving together of the fanatics. Is it now turning into late night illegal racing? If that is the case, once it starts to become known and attracts the wrong attention, we can forget about late night socials with our BMW's especially fitted with BMWFanatics logos.

The club means a lot to me, and I don't wish to see its good name go down.

The hookup ends yes.

But as for the forum name, everyone can see the stickers on the cars, and by now everyone knows that the BMW guys have meets on the highways on Friday nights.

Some of the stuff that happened Friday was really disappointing to be honest.

But the meetings are always great. Maybe just focus more on the meeting than on the run afterwards guys.

guys i will state this

i saw disrespect to other road users on friday,it is the first time i was at the back, and i did not like it,sorry to say but if i was in another car and a bunch of bmw drivers were bring a 4 lane highway to 40km/h speed limit then i would also be pissed.

if you guys want to do,go for it,BUT when i originally started these events it was to have a meet up and then a run to the next garage, and so on,in one night we would cover 250km distance and yes there was spirited driving, but with respect to other road users.

so guys do what you feel is right, and i will do what i feel is right

thanks for reading colin

Wasn't there to see anything, but agree with Colin. The original idea was to do a drive around, not a race around, and unfortunately of late, that is what has happened... You guys know the last few times I did manage to come to the garage, I would eat my ice cream or drink my cold drink, then go before the run starts.

I Support the meet up, as it builds the friendships of the bmwfanatics members, but the driving after the meetup of late.... no way...

Hmm... Interesting to hear everyone's perspectives. And I understand the 40km/h issue. I recall seeing that last year for the 1st time. And the roads were much busier with normal traffic.

From my point of view it still seemed like one of the more social and fun get togethers yet. I feel the smaller more intimate ones makes for better memories. Colin does have a point and If I were to stumble on something like that in my normal travels I would be afraid as well. So maybe as a common courtesy we can all stick to "cruising speeds" whilst on the roads. And keep the low speed "cruises" to our own private test tracks. 80kmh is legit right?

I will also endeavor to promote this mentality from now on out. And keep the fanatics and other road users safe from getting a "fright"

The majority of people I have met on fanatics have been on fun evenings spent enjoying ice cream or hot chocolate. And it would be a crying shame to not continue what was and still can be fantastic part of fanatics :)
