Jap Powered M3 (E36) runs 307kmh - WTF??

Why?
Jap Motor in an M3....Surely he could have done it with an ///M motor

On Sunday the XPTBoosted/Full Boost Performance/BME Tuning 2JZ powered M3 headed out to ODI to have a crack at the 300km/h mark.

The 1st run delivered a 301 km/h speed over the 0-1000m standing start sprint. The best run of the day came in at 307 km/h which was verified by GPS
This is a full interior 4-door M3 with roll cage and retains excellent street manners

The BMW uses a Full-Boost Performance built 2JZ-GTE and a XPT X72R turbo to provide the pressure

Impressive nonetheless

Seen something like this quite a while ago - different car but same sort of thing and it was outrunning/accelerating some super bikes etc...

I know the oke who originally owned this car and did this conversion. Has a Supra motor in it or something. He now has a 335i coupe that he says is doing something like 320kw on the wheels....ya.

But apparently this thing is doing like 1000HP on full boost (so he says) and is unbelievably fast (in a straight line....corners may be a challenge).

He had a worked 330d (E90) that had the motorplan voided cos he fiddled with the software and BMW detected it when it was supposed to be an invisible upgrade. His 330d had 30,000km's on the clock with no motorplan...luffly.

Love the way it just disappears into the distance like that....damn that thing is seriously freaking fast.

I witnessed this on Sunday, this car is a beast, just to put it into perspective a Nissan GTR 35 Skyline only managed around 248km down the 1km track if i remember correctly.

This thing is insane,

Hells yes! This motor is built for this! You will probably spend more than 3 times as much on the ///m motor to get this out of it, just not the smart thing to do.

Nice power there. Would love to drive that car to know what it feels like.

I'd never do something like this to a M. Maybe a 316 or 318.

The 2JZ engine is a much easier platform to work with, due to the incredible inherent strength that the engine has.

The BMW S50/S54 engines have not achieved the same levels of power, and in turbo form they have a number of issues to address. The block (sleeve) integrity being an important one.

Even the Multivalve 2.8 engines have reached the limit of the block strength (although higher than that of the M engines)

We have made over 700whp on a completely stock 2JZGTE

I know this is the BMW forum, and hence Jap engine swaps will naturally be met with resistance, but there is no denying the greatness of the 2JZ engine.
