Is there 130i auto with idrive?

Hi Guys,

Ive been looking at dealerships and on the net for a 130i auto with idrive but i cant seem to find.

Did the 130i come out with auto gearbox?

Because i tend to brake clutches annually.

I currently drive a runx rsi with a stage 1.
I want the 130i as my chilled luxury car with some punch and the beautiful straight 6 sound.

Nav on the 1st gen 1-series is a very scarce option. You will find it on the cabriolets and coupes mostly, but very very seldom on a hatch.

Rather look for a 125i coupe, much newer, lower mileage and price difference is not that much. I've seen good condition low mileage 130i's go for as much as R220k!

Yeah...but the 125i 3.0L pushes 160kw right? a bit low

Is the 125i detuned because the 130i also a 3.0L straight 6 and pushes 195kw

Yes, the 125i is detuned, there are a number of forums which discuss the differences but seem to be mostly intake and software.
Let me put it this way....
130i steptronics are VERY scarce
130i steptronics with msport pack are even scarcer
130i steptronic 3door with sport pack are like GOLD. I saw a 2008 with 60k go last year for like R230k!
Bottom line is that there were many more 125i autos sold than 130i autos and in any case if you're buying a 130i for performance, why buy an auto?

Bottom line is that there were many more 125i autos sold than 130i autos and in any case if you're buying a 130i for performance, why buy an auto?

Im tired of breaking gboxes and its the reason i want auto now. Having driven the Runx rsi for 3 years one would want more power. 160kw will not cut it much for me.

I will keep looking for a 130i auto.

If its software and intake diferences then im sure one can modify?

Are there any threads here with buying tips for 130i? i will also search myself on this site.

Are you aware how often auto boxes on BMWs break compared to manuals? If that is your reason then STAY AWAY FROM AUTOS.

You might want to do some research here. You will find that breaking a manual BMW gearbox is extremely rare, actually breaking Toyota boxes not that common either. What are doing repetitively to keep breaking them?

I think its snap changing is the reason.

Anyway so today i went to see a black 130i M-sport at CMC in Goodwood.

It has 155k mileage going for R149K

Full service history with 1 year mech warranty.

The front bumper is scratched and they said they will fix it. They started it and it sounded awesome, went very quiet when the oil cooled.

What are your thoughts guys? is this a good buy or not?
