Hi All
I fear my battery on my 320d has died, but has it really? (new battery in April)

I went to London to watch the Paralympic Games (BRILLIANT EVENT!!) and came home 10 days later. My car started first time no problem.

On the recent long weekend I left my car from Sat arfternoon till Tuesday morning. Got in on tuesday 5am - DEAD! (missd my flight to joburg.:argh:) I assume I'd left the radio on for 2 days which killed the battery. It's all I can think of.

Guy at the workshop had it all day to do a service and said the battery won't charge up.

Is my battery really dead?
Who can i take it to to test:
a)the battery
b)charging system of the car.

any battery place - and they will do a charge test to determine why ? if the battery just died - then its under warranty still (less than a year)

I dont think you can leave the radio on for more than 20 or 30 minutes, it will shut itself down if you have the factory head unit. There is something not right with it if its not working 6 months later ...

Any battery center can test it, they just check how much current it draws asfaik, takes a few minutes to diagnose its health.

Had a similar challenge with two of my cars, after they were standing.....now here is what Luis told me and he was spot on! thanx Luis....if a battery is completly drained, it will not get the battery charger to start charging, connected the charger and a jumper lead with a running car, gave the battery a base load then charged them for 2 days each, both batteries are 100% now.

Hi All
Thanks for the replies.
Battery got tested - DEAD. The print-out said "replace battery" so...I REPLACED BATTERY.
Under warranty so i'm not out of pocket.
I had the aternater tested - Fine.
I still don't know what caused sudden battery failure but i'm up and running again.
:joy:

I got the same problem here the battery is also a few months old, currently got it on charge, so will do a test afterwards. Hopefully its a faulty battery and not the car.
