Just thought it interesting the problems that technology can bring with it, could affect any modern make of car.

Regardless I think the new 7 is a real stunner.

When I have had similar problems in the past a short trip and a suitable donation in the tray under the BMW 328 at Franschoek Motor museum. Play 2 "Mustang sallies" and 3 "Little deuse coupes" and the car gods will once again smile on you.

Yes, modern tech is great when it's working, and damn frustrating when it's not. Have heard some real horror stories from my agents about certain cars that exhibit problems that just don't come right, no matter how much effort is put into repairing them. Also love the current Seven tho, such a great car, and streets ahead of the e60 in terms of appeal.

More often than not electronic "gremlins" are a result of a mechanic not knowing what he is doing. Jeeps are a prime example in that they have an unusual wiring and diagnostic setup. My Jeep indie was telling me he had a Jeep in that had been diagnosed with a dead turbo at another shop, when it was actally a faulty R20 relay. Or something like that.

Yes, very often that is the case. Some BMW "expert" wired my oxygen sensors left on right, and right on left, therefore diagnostics picked up incorrect readings. Took some time for the real expert to find and correct this, amongst other things that were all in place but not correctly wired.
