Interesting change

So out of the blue, my alarm now beeps whenever i lock/unlock the car. I was under the impression that this type of thing needed to be coded and no coding of any sort was done. In fact the was parked for a few days during the week like it normally is and kind of shocked my wife (literally-she thought she did something wrong) when she used the key as we both know its just the lights and no sound.

Its been doing that and not causing any problem. but can this be activated/deactivated using the key?

Did your wife perhaps use a different key?

I know that with some of the newer Volvo's they have certain settings saved in the key, stuff like if my uncle unlocks the car with his key the seat changes to his setting, etc and if my aunt with her key the seat goes to her position :thinking:

Nope the spare key is kept safely away, I take the spare out every 3-4 months to ensure it still fine and havent experienced this

I've always wondered this, as it's common for BMW to unlock with just lights/indicators and a sound of the doors unlocking, but no beep.

I'm really curious as to what can be programmed on the car using diagnostics, or the "secret" menu on the OBC :fencelook:

thinking back now, the first time i heard it was when i was in the car, locking and unlocking the doors and putting the key in the ignition in order to open the windows. I was at campus, studying in the car and wanted all doors locked, windows slightly open, but did this more than once till i could get some airflow into the car.

Thats my thought as well, but i dont mind it though, at least i know that i have pressed the button.

Very odd, because you would needed to code that setting.
I coded it on my e46, but removed it again, it's annoying when it beeps when you lock and/or unlock the car.
