Inquiry about Surebrake for BMW E90

Good day Fanatics

My I-Drive notified me that my rear brake pads need replacing. I went ahead and got a quote from BMW Zambezi and then decided to perhaps give the new Bosch Service center in Hatfield (previously BMW Leo Haese) a try.

They gave me a quote for original parts which was also cheaper than BMW Zambezi quote. I then also asked for an alternative parts quote.

They replied with the quote and told me the alternative brake components they use are Surebrake, does any of you know the brand and used it before.

I never heard of the brand before, only used BMW original parts till now.
Only aftermarket brakes I ever tried was ATE and Ferodo on my previous car and both of them had terrible squeals.

Not sure on the price difference between OEM and Surebrake, but I would try my best to get OEM.

I've used Surebrake on my dads VW Touran once. Brakes were terrible. Stopping distance was much longer. Eventually threw them away!

On the other hand it was front pads, so maybe cheaping out on rears can work.

IMHO - Rather pay the buck for better brake components. Its one of those things you don't want to cheap out on...

Thanks for the feedback guys
My experience mith aftermarket brakes are also not great but I was just wondering if they are maybe just rebranded OEM

Textar is the OE supplier to BMW... so see if you can source Textar. I think Axis still stocks them. otherwise, try Imcomex.

I know ATE was the OEM supplier on the E46, not sure about the E90. They're good quality pads, maybe try to source a set and ask the Bosch Service center to fit them if you're not up to doing it yourself? That way you can save on the parts mark-up.

Last I checked the original BMW pads from the dealer were very well priced.
I bought front discs and pads at very very competitive prices 2 months back.

Give it a shot... Original quality is always the best!

Thanks guys

I also think I'm going to give the Bosch Center a Skip. thought their labour would we better than the BMW dealership but the quote is exactly the same.

I'm just going to get the OEM components and do the Brakes myself.

If you value your life or car please dont use SureBrake.

Utter crap and should be taken of shelves. Apart from stopping power that is terrible, Mine caught alight on my previous e90 when i did a high speed brake. it boiled the Brake fluid. Was a mission to get the brakes 100% again and cost me alot.

Thanks for the heads-up Karsh330d

Will definitely not be going that route, just scary that a Bosch Service center use those pads. :fencelook:
