Good Day All

I was wondering if anyone imports from the USA with regard to pc components.

Thanks

SA consumers are being taken for a ride and unless a consumer watchdog steps in or is introduced the this will continue .electronics , cars !

"Duty rates in South Africa vary from 0% to 45%, with an average duty rate of 18.74%. Some goods are not subject to duty (e.g. laptops, electric guitars and other electronic products)."

what happens in reality is probably different. we have to pay for ministers' boyfriends. :fencelook:

I have know that we have been ripped off.

Without shipping I compared 4 different items from the USA to and ours were about R 4200 more expensive for the same items.

I could understand a little markup but damn that is insane.

Ive imported stuff before, worked out way cheaper then local. Use someone like postbox-courier.com to bring it down for you.

Ive only just started using them now. Costs are on the website, delivery time for me was under a week.

I imported a GFX card through landmark computers a couple of years ago. As luck would have it, the memory couldn't handle the speeds (factory overclocked) and the fan scraped on the heatsink making a nasty noise.

I decided to downclock it and file the fan a bit rather than spend the money to ship it back.

When I was in the states last year I brought back an SSD and RAM. So far so good.

I personally wouldn't ship stuff here. Buy there and bring back myself it at all possible, or just buy here.
