Streetracer@ I'm in the same dilema in my E36 328i (auto). So many different opinions, especially in the area of performance filters and cold-air induction kits.
Does this list sound about right?
# fan delete
# diff
# M3 branches
# weight-reduction - boot/bonnet (but at what cost??)
# light weight flywheel (doesn't that harm low rpm smoothness?)
# De-cat
# UniQ chip

At what cost to do all this and who does the best work for this?

Imran@ Sorry :sorry: ma man for hijacking  I'm kinda in the same boat as you!

Hi Gentlemen

Imran, I am in exactly the same boat as you are. I have bought myself a BMW E36 94 model for cheap on a auction. I had it resprayed, fitted 17" M6 replica mags, put in the E36 running angel eyes lights, had a new clutch, new brake system and all the other goodies fitted.

Currently a guy is fitting a double outlet (yes, you read correctly) M3 exhaust system as well.

The "monster" under the hood is suppose to be a 325i single Vanos system. *******my knowledge on engines are like my knowledge on women: baie kaka!********

Bottom line is that my baby has become lazy after all fitments were done, especially after the 17" mags - originally 15".

I have read all the threads and advice, but money is also a factor. If anybody can advise me how to "boost my baby"again, at decent affordable prices, please advise, else i am going to have to go the old school system:
MOTBOLLE!!!

PS: Wanted to post some pics, but cant seem to get it right, as I am a newbie!

IMHO the 17 inch tyres are about same diameter as 15 inch tyres but the width is greater increasing rolling resistance .A few years ago Drive magazine tested a 328i individual with M3 mags and kit - it was slower than a standard 328i .
A 325i has a problem torque at 4700 revs for non vanos ,so needs revs to get going , the 3,46 diff works well but you sit at about 5000 revs in 5th at 180km/h .
Get a 328i crank , then torque will improve .

hi i have a 325i e36 bmw,it smells smoke and petol inside,what might be a problem...

1. Check for an exhaust leak
2. Remove your back seat, check the seals on the fuel tank
3. Check if passenger is not holding a gallon of petrol and smoking a cigarette

quickest and cheapst power gains would be the bottle (NOS) but respect the bottle.
Throttle in a bottle, pay as you go or more like pay if you can...The right tuner is everything when it comes to NOS. Sabie Coetzee is the only guy I would trust with a NOS install and tune.

I have a 3.73 diff. Consumption is scary but is a bit promising on the corners. I get 13 L/100 highway and 25 L/100 urban. I've cleaned and checked almost everything. Story to post on this thread.

Please assist

Your consumption is putrid lol.
Most likely due to your diff being so short.
3.15 is the stock 325i ratio.
I'm sure she's great between the robots tho. I've got the stock diff 363 000 km on the clock. Returned 7.8l/100km with aircon from cape Town to plett. Combined cycled hovered between 9.4 and 9.8 enthusiastic driving.

I drive a 1400 all week so the Beema is always a pleasure to pull through the Rev range.

M50s are like Japanese engines in my opinion. Love to Rev..... But very thirsty up there.
