Ok so firstly a big thank you to all who made it for the last run, only 12 cars but Durban's biggest thus far. It was an enjoyable morning
Moving on...
I threw out this idea to some of the okes in the BB group and all seemed in consensus with it.
So on Saturday's run I just felt our runs are a tad monotonous, its awesome meeting new people, seeing their cars etc but I just felt we can do so much more as a car club. Lets put our name out there. At the end of the day that is what we want right? To expand, create more awareness about us as a fanatics car club. What better way to do that and help uplift our community simultaneously.
Lets give back and be known as a car club that does more than just make our presence known with our blue and white badges.
I thought on every run let us include some charitable activity.
Personally in our company we make an effort to do something like a feeding scheme on a weekly basis and it has been happening for 7 years now so why not widen the net to the Fanatics.
We can do clothes drives, feeding schemes, toys and blankets, cleaning up the bay area as it is litter strewn.
These are activities that will heighten our presence, give us a good name but first and foremost we will be making such a positive difference to society.
Our runs must still include the long drive in convoy, the Wimpy stop and photoshoot but can also include a run to a particular place to do some random act of kindness, charity etc.
It is just an idea and the Durban boys are on board with it. Maybe extend this to Jhb and Cpt if you guys are game?
Since Durban is still a small following, I thought lets start small and maybe just organise a meal to be distributed at an area where it is needed. I can take a pic and maybe submit to newspapers and thus we gain publicity at the same time. The feeling after doing something like this indescribable.
So thoughts and ideas into putting this into action?
