My E46 is an '02

on a serious note , I see two 2002`s now and then around where I live in Durban .
one is a little ratty , the other is very very clean and probably restored. I think the restored one is a TI and its a green color.

Since the 2002 was never officially imported into SA it is hard to determine the amount that came in, how many are left is anyone's guess.

But I would say about a hundred that are drivable, and about double that for wrecks.

Could be less, doubtful it will be more.

Guys what are the prices of 2002's going for now? Any ideas on ones that need work as compared to ones that have been restored?

It depends on the condition, and "needs work" can mean anything.

A full show-class restoration can cost R200k+ easily so I would make that about the upper limit for regular 2002s in perfect condition.

A good condition unrestored example probably between R100k - R150k again, depending on paint, interior and documentation.

A non runner anything from R20k to R80k depending on work needed to bring it back.

These are VERY rough estimates and I would not hold anyone to these. Its just an idea. There is in truth no market price for these as they are sold far to seldom to determine trends.

Best bet is to decide what you can afford, then make an offer accordingly.

Just keep in mind that mechanical repairs on these are affordable, it is the cosmetics that cost an arm and a leg to restore. So missing trim and dented grills and cracked dashboards would be very expensive to replace.

Totally true. And I guess the rand-dollar exchange doesn't help either with getting parts. If anyone has any leads on locals that have spares for 02's please pm me.
