How expensive could this be to fix?

Saw THIS car and went all the way to their barn (which is much further than the map makes it look) to take a closer inspection. Now the way they took the photo you can't really see the damage on the vehicle unless you are there in person.

This is what those dents look like, if you check closely you can see the panel gap between the two rear left side lights is a bit wide or is that just in my head...

Assuming I go through with this deal, How much would it costs roughly to iron those dents out before taking it for insurance inspection? the rest of the car is in good shape.

If its at a dealership get them to repair it.

But I would so 5k if they need to completely repaint both bumpers.

I would budget 8k for the repair / respray. Is the boot not closed properly or has the rear bumper been "pulled down"? Put it on a lift to check the undercarriage before pulling the trigger as well, better safe than sorry. Best of luck

Make sure you check that the car did not run over something and there is damages you cannot see from the outside of the car. Specially the right front...had a bad experience once with a similar situation.

The damage to the bumpers is minimal, a respray or a touch up will take care of it. The indentation at the rear should also be repairable. 5k should be more than adaequate.

Give the car a proper once over including the under carriage for accident damage, if clean...it should be fine. The pic of the rear does not allow to check the panel gap on the boot, looking at it straight on should give you a better comparison.

If the car drives well and the price takes into consideration the work needed, you should be good.

The majority of cars on the road have had some form of cosmetic repairs during their life and should not deter you.

we sell cars.

be careful with them,i looked at a couple cars there, one a 2005 clk 500 ,clock showed 134000km but the book showed last service being 165000,found another car exactly the same.
then there was a Porsche boxster there that I was keen on,at the time it was R145 000,with 145000km on clock, went to Porsche in Lynwood road and was told the car had last been serviced at 210 000km on there system, also car was a grey import, according to Porsche.

I do know of some guys buying there and being happy, just make sure you run the vin at BMW,if possible try get a mechanic you trust to give the car a once over, looked at a ford fiesta there, also low kilos, had a idling issue, sounded like it was runnng on 3 cylinders and revs would climb then stick there for a while then drop doen again, was told by the sales person this was normal.

personally,i would walk away, especially being a 320,look for a 325i or a 330i,if its a 320i you want then there are plenty around, remember if a person sells there car to a dealer like this then what other abuse has this car suffered which you can not see

This might help others check out your pics without breaking their necks:

If the dealership is not willing to repair before the sale then this should be an "as is" deal. So there's no going back once you've signed.

Get them to take the car outside for a better look. White cars inside showrooms with florescent lights and/or skylights make spotting dents and dings difficult. With that said, to me the bonnet seems to also have a kink on one of the pleat lines. Not sure why the tow hitch cover on the bumper is missing as it should not have come off with the "small ding", but this is added cost. It could also be a replaced bumper from the scrapyards (where these covers go missing) and could be hiding more damage beneath considering you say the lights alignment is off.

Run the VIN past our resident Sheriff "Coisman" and BMW.

Taking all of the above into consideration and if the price is still attractive, then do yourself a favour by taking along someone who knows cars (if you don't) and inspect thoroughly (including lifting boot mats). Try to get the car on a lift as other member/s have indicated.

Generally forum members speculations are on the button about dealerships, but a really low price inclusive of repairs may allow this purchase.

The car details:

2011 BMW 320i A/T E90 LCI
R108000

Vehicle is sold with no warranty and price excludes on the road charges

157000km

After a bit of a fight with my bank refusing to finance Herco's diesel I am getting slightly impatient with looking for cars. It seems like there is a lot of E90 320i LCIs for sell until you are looking then you either find Lemons or ridiculously priced ones. But I am not desperate so I will let this one slide. Went for a second look and found things I hadn't seen at first like the

bumper is cracked
terrible idling from cold start
lots of oil under the car on the sump protective plate thing

haven't called BMW yet but I am not sure I want to.
