that my friend is the reason for this vids i capture.

I take it to saps and lay a charge against them for reckless driving and reckless endangerment.

I had the privilege of taking away 3 peoples licenses and gave the R5000 fines or both and suspended sentences.

In the one case where i actually pulled over a driver ( i was in uniform) where the driver was so drunk i phoned the metro to come and arrest him. so his @ss is in jail and they recovered a Illegal firearm and confiscated his vehicle.

Slowly but surely im getting rid of them one by one and you know what - i don't care what any body think i am at least willing to do something about it.

+1 dippies.

If more people start to do this our roads might just start to get a bit safer.
Need to get me a can still.

There are more people on the roads that can't drive, then there are people who can. It's ridiculous, I doubt 20% of drivers know how to use a circle properly.

The only thing I can suggest is to do what I do. Assume every driver out there is an idiot and expect people to do stupid stuff (especially at circles).
It's not perfect but it's better than getting into an accident and all you can say is 'but I had the right of way!' Assume they aren't going to stop at a stop street or that they have no idea what a red light means.
I see people driving up one-ways, turning right at a circle and doing insane things all the time. :bangdesk:

A female driver in a huge SUV nearly drove me off of the road once because she was talking on the phone & didn't notice her lane had traffic up ahead. She cut in front of me before she even passed me properly so I had to brake & swerve out of the way or else she would've hit my front wheel and rammed me into the sidewall. She had a 5 year old STANDING on the backseat through all of this... :thumbdo:

As for drunk drivers, they should be shot on sight. :argh:

What I like to do is drive like a granny when I see a speedster approaching from behind. They get so annoyed...however they just get more reckless :flyfun:

I've only seen about 10% that actually indicate there intentions i.e. signalling out of the circle.

I agree with what NavZs said, which is what I do, expect that every car doesn’t have a clue what they are doing, and just prepare yourself for that oak to come cruising through the circle and cut in front of you. It requires more concentration but at least you wont have any accidents.

I was driving my old polo once coming from cape town CBD had just got onto the m3 where the n2 joined it, and some lady in a huge SUV who was joining the m3 coming from the n2 somerset west, just start changing lanes, moved into the middle lane, and i could see she was going to keep on going, I was already going 100 in my little polo 1400 and obviously couldnt accelerate to miss her. So i had to stomp on brakes, abs as kicking in I droped down to 40 almost stalling in 5th gear, and she almost swiped the front of me with her tail. There are some terrible drivers out there and I have hundreds of stories.

But one must also be considerate to people who are not from the area, if they do a U-turn where they are not supposed to they are probably lost.

As for people driving over the speed limit I'm sure most of the people on this forum do. I personally do and do not mind, If you are going 100 on the N2 you should not be in the right hand lane. People shouldnt pass on the left hand side, but with that said those in the right hand lane should pull over for the people who want to go faster.

And dont even get me started on taxis.:nonono:

Its not the fast driving that causes accidents, in my opinion when you are driving faster you concentrate a hell of a lot more, than when putting along looking at the country side.

Look at the autobahn they have a ridiculously low accident rate. And can travel at speeds we would never be able to here.

Those seem like tame examples. People seem to think that lanes mean nothing and driving on the wrong side of the road is ok. Solid wite line, most people dont have a clue what that means or how to take a corner without crossing onto the wrong side of the road. We are not on a race track 'racing lines' \ 'lazy driving' are not for the public road...

 good for you, Dippies, don't you want to come visit here for a week, you'll close down both the traffic dept cops and SAPS! Traffic rules don't exist here, the cops are too busy manning speed traps with 4 cars outside town to enforce anything and the pedestrians use the road because the pavement is full of hawkers and you can't walk there. All this on the N2, which is down to a single lane due to double parking. You have it good up there, believe me! :bangdesk:

I will post some photos soon to show you guys how insanely stupid some drivers can be, driving a vehicle with a flat tyre until only the tyre beadings remain on the buckled and totally stuffed up rims!!
Yesterday I stopped next to a police van at a robot, the driver was busy texting on his blackberry, I said to him: hey, you are setting a bad example to the public. The idiot cop replied: its my official duty phone!

I said to him: the law says thatyou must pull off the road and stop if you want to use the phone, official phone or not. You should have seen the puzzled look on his face

Not that people dont Know the rules

IT IS THAT THEY DON'T CARE.

Because nothing is going to happen to them.

Eg:

People know it is against the law to talk on a cell while driving (when they dont have hands free)

Yet they still do it.

circles are the worst, there are tons where I live ...

people really don't understand the concept or how they work, in europe traffic actually flows through circles, here its like a traffic light worse than a four way stop.

There is one circle I use on a daily basis and people love to come speeding without stopping so im always very careful, there was an occasion where a woman almost crashed into me, she swerved and then started swearing at me. I wish I had a K53 book I would have put it under her windscreen wipers. :argh:

So the JRA (and other similar SA government organisations) decided that the use of traffic calming zones (aka roundabouts) were a good idea. Problem is that they FORGOT to educate drivers on how to use a roundabout. It is NOT a four way stop, nor is it a place to park you car when the exit you want is backed up. Drivers just don't get it. Traffic from the right, already in the circle has right of way. Period. If everyone followed this, roundabouts will work as they should.:argh:
