Hi Guys.
His weekend I am going to Darling for the Rocking the Daisies music festival.
There is a 8km dirt road, powdery dust with long grass that my beemer is going to encounter.
What can be done to prevent dust coming in through eg:boot lid
I was thinking of taping certain areas?
If any advise please let me know

Get some of that blue tape lambchop is selling, and just tape up every seam you can.

I will advise that when you get back home, take your airfilter out, and blow all the dust out of it.

8KMs is not bad.

in June & July I was doing 20Kms one way (so 40Kms a weekend) every second weekend. Did nothing to prepare and got no dust inside car or boot. I would suggest, keep windows closed & aircon on full speed, to create a possitive pressure in the car.

I would also depending on the condition of the road adjust speed accordingly.

The slower you take it, I would say the less wear on your suspension.

I have just had my front suspension replaced, so wont be going on that dirt road again. I am not saying it was the road that wore out the suspension, as the cars done 180K Kms so bits were due for replacement anyway, but it might have led to it happening sooner

thought it was more than 8km...
8km wont kill the car if its a reasonable road and you are sensible...

16km on a gravel road is nothing. Dust won't get in, maybe check your door and boot seals for damage before you go.

I think I know the road you will travel. Keep to the middle, keep your speed down. Going to these things there will be traffic. Don't get brave at the venue and get stuck in the sand, park and walk.

I think,I pulled 3 cars out at a Darling event:roflol:

Good advice here from Clownshoe, keep your distance from the car in front, that way the chance of getting the front of your car chipped by stones/breathing dust is minimised and just keep your speed down, your car will be fine!

You should be more worried about people f***ing up your car at one of these festivals. My bmw will never attend daisies or any music festival. I will always just get a lift.:fencelook:

The longest my F30 has seen a dirt road is 100m, I have a number of clients that are farmers luckily only 1 has a short sand road the rest are tarred to their houses and offices.
But my luck is I own a Prado as well which the wife drives so I can just swop with her.

So maybe loan a bakkie or a SUV if you can
