High water usage and squealing brakes

Does anyone else have these problems? I've had to refill the water tank every week since early October. The squealing (at low speeds) is annoying and embarrassing to say the least. Should I just book the car in and hope they resolve these issues? My car has been booked in at least 4 times for the squealing brakes :argh:

I know this sounds lame, but have you checked your radiator cap?

I had the same problem, searched all over and eventually concluded that the radiator cap wasn't sealing properly anymore, allowing the water to evaporate. replaced it for R150 and haven't had any issues since.

Is this an E90?

If so squealing brakes is common. If pads are close to their end this could be one reason (check on your obc), 2nd reason is vibration caused by pad and caliper.

Solution is to get anti squeal paste and apply them to the back of the pads and re-attach to caliper and refit.

Water usage, could be a leak somewhere in your cooling system

Yup, E93 335i. Decided to book it in. The person I spoke to at BMW thinks there's a leak. The brakes will probably be replaced, seeing as this is the upteenth time I've had to take the car in just because of them.

Hope they sort out the water leak and the brake squeal! Chances are, the last time the brakes were worked on (pads and/or disks) they didn't bother using any anti-squeal paste - definitely helps prevent brake squeal! So maybe 'politely' remind them to do this... :thumbs:
