Hi guys
I need some help.
I fitted hid kits to my e90 fogs my problem now is its bringing up error codes.
They work for about 3 mins then code displays on dash and they turn off.
I have been to autostlye to get the cancelers but the guys say it will not work.?
Any one had the same problem and managed to sort it out .?

Alternatively contact Vishal aka Vsomai who is an advertiser and member of this forum. He is also Durban based and specialises in lighting

All the error cancellers do is present a higher load than what the LEDs are. Generally it's using a high powered resistor in a metal casing with a capacitor across it to 'simulate' a normal globe.

A better way to do this would be to disable the checking of the globes in the FRM as I would imagine the error canceller gets pretty hot in the process. I've not tried this myself, but plan to do so on my car as I'm not to keen having the error cancellers dangling inside my headlights.

Violet Electronics supplies a Canbus ballast which carries a 2 year warranty.

I don't know of any other supplier that offers that type of warranty on an electrical components.

Definitely an Authority in Automotive and LED lighting :praise:

Wow, I was thinking of do HID for my e90 325i 2006 fog light, I hate the yellowish halogen fog light, but you said if we get regular HID ballast, then there is error code shows up :-(. I have to get the HID canbus ballast to avoid this problem?

You can buy the error canceler kit for around R150 or you can DIY.

Get 2 4700 Microfarad 25v capacitors. I think they were around R5.00 each from Comunica in midrand.

Connect these just before the ballast on both sides. This will stop the error or if you have a flikker problem.

Worked for my e46 and pre lci e90. Just connect the positive and negitive correctly. I popped the first one and its very loud

I heard that this Capacitor can be blow up if you connect it wrong. Is that true? If so how to avoid blowing up? I mean do you have any tip to connect it right?
Thanks

The caps are polarized and marked as such. Use a multimeter to determine the polarity of the lights; measure the voltage across the wires, if you get a positive reading then the red wire of the multimeter is positive and black is negative. If you get a negative reading it's the opposite. Connect your capacitor accordingly. Another tip is that brown color wires in BMWs are always negative.
