Help: VIN Decode

Howzit guys,

In the process of buying a car on the forum, finding it difficult to decode this vin on realoem and other decode sites. I know that most modern BMW's end with 2 alphabets and 5 numbers eg. XX12345

The VIN on this BMW is ABMCA5807OA478094

So as you can see it has 2 alphabets and 6 numbers. If I enter it into realoem it pops up as an E90 320d.

The car is a 1995 BMW 318 Motorsport. Owner and previous owners confirm no change in VIN stamps - current owner is a true fanatic and knows his thing! I also checked the VIN on the car exactly the same. Cois did a check - he picked it up as a 318 - all in order

Probably a simple explanation for this but I am curious. Did the Motorsport's have a different VIN sequence?

Apparently RealOEM has some problems when you enter earlier model cars like the e36 and e34, etc. Doesn't mean that the VIN is wrong

Realoem has always worked fine for my cars as old as my E30. Just hoping that someone with a wealth of motorsport knowledge can provide some insight on the VIN itself. Are there any other motorsports with 6 numbers at the end?
