Help on offer price - 1986 525e

Hi Guys,

A buddy of mine has a 525e auto - 1986 model.

Car is extremely good condition - runs well.

Mileage is 302k km.

Colour is cream.

Small ding on front fender - but otherwise car is original and original paint.

What would be a reasonable offer for a vehicle like this ?

The 525e was the eco-version .... I am thinking R20,000 would be a reasonable price if its in good nick and everything still works

Non-high revving engine of the 325i motor. Search for data on the eta motor (325i eta eg)

Longer stroke but the compression ratio is dropped from what I understand. Drop an 885 head on there with 325i pistons (combustion chamber differs) & you have an instant stroker motor, but you will need to check the rod length...

They not very popular models. The 535i is the one to get but they are rare so this car should not command more $ than a 325i in similar condition. I'd agree with the R20k but I havent seen the car. Consider what it needs, brakes, steering, service, most def all bushings & mounts need replacing at that age, tyres & & & & factor that into the price.
