There is a damage to the front bumper and parts connecting to it of my 320i A/T (F30) . There is no mechanical damage to the car but there is bit of work to replace the front bumper and parts combined to it. My insurance company is insisting me to fix this at a non BMW approved panel beater as there is no mechanical damage involved in it. They have told me that car can go for a Quality check at BMW service center after fixing the damage and then BMW will reinstate the motorplan. Looks like there is a huge difference between the quotes from a BMW repair center and the non BMW. Could someone please let me if they did such a thing without terminating the Motorplan ?

If your car is under motorplan, you should have it repaired at a BMW Approved Repair Centre ( ARC ) one time and save yourself the time and hassles...

You can take it to a non approved center and have it taken back to BMW to reinstate motorplan, but this is a HUGE risk. Your insurance company cannot tell you to take it to a non approved center. If they refuse because of this get the ombudsman involved. And obviously change insurers. Which insurer is this?

I had a guy bump into my front bumper, not hard, so only damage was the bumper popped in and back out. I just took it to a uncle I have known for many years and asked him to repaint it. As there was no parts to be ordered I didn't still bother with letting BMW know.

For your own peace of mind, rather go to an ARC and tell your insurance not to play the stingy card, have them repair the car and move away from them. They trying to save a buck and placing your MP at risk.

Add 2.5k for motorplan reinstatement, and you can have it fixed whereever you like.

BMW has a program for now appreoved repairers, just provided you do a quality check and re-instatement.

It still goes on record, so its not worth it. But totally doable.

I had 2 of my previous BMW's repaired at a non appoved ARC. My friend owns a quality panel beater that is Merc Approved.

When parts are ordered for your BMW, the MP is suspended, be it and ARC or not. It gets re-instated after repair and inspection.

If you are confident with the repairer and their work quality is good, the MP will be re-instated after inspection.

However, your insurance company should mot force you to use a NON ARC.

I just had my vehicle repaired for similar damage at ARC approved Club Motors in Strijdom Park. R40K damage (R12K for a F30 headlight :skit: and only the mounting clips broke), The insurer actually asked if the car has MP, and then told me that I can ONLY have it repaired by BMW for the sake of keeping motorplan.

PM me and I'll send you their details, they're underwritten by Santam and their service has been epic to say the least, that's if you wish to change after the fact.
