Friend on mine got a new TV with only digital audio out. However he still wants to use his only hifi as his sound system, but this cannot take digital audio in. Do you get a digital audit out converter cable?

Define digital audio output ...
Is he referring to coaxial output ?

Or The audio output from the hdmi itself ?

If he is referring to the coaxial output there is a converter but we dont stock it cause theres not much demand for it and it costs alot of money..

I have a question for your friend though..
Does he want the audio from the tv to play through the amplifier or does he want the sound from his dvd or decoder to play through the amp ?

1 more suggestion
Ask your friend to look at the back of the tv and tell you exactly what the output ports say on them.. basically what are the outputs labelled as ?

Let me know and I will see How I can help further..

Think the cable looks like this (but not sure):

the other end should just look like your normal RCA cable:

The port in the picture is an optical output which means it uses fibre optical cable and you cant convert a laser signal into analogue unless you get a fibre optic to analogue converter.. Link to converter below

http://www.threedoubleyou.com/digital&fibre.htm

I did notice however the tv has an RGb input aswell as audio outputs next to it if im not mistaken as I couldnt zoom into the pic much. Which means he can use normal rca's as in 1 video out and the 2 audio outs or use the RGB for picture and the 2 audio outs next to it for sound !

The top pic is what the TV looks like, the second one is just an example of the port.

The others are inputs not outputs.

I figured there wouldn't really be an inexpensive convertor available.

Well to be honest an optical to analogue converter would be expensive.. But you still havent told me what piece of equipments audio your friend wants to be played through the amp.. please specify so I can help you further.. State the type eg.. Dvd, decoder etc

He want everything through the hifi instead of the tv's speakers: tv, pvr and ps3

If he wants all the audio through the hifi all he has to do is connect the audio outputs from all the devices straight to the amp !

Im assuming the amp has a few audio inputs so thats a simple fix..
He doesnt have to take the audio out of the tv to have it play on the amp..
Straight off the ps3 and pvr will work fine..

On the pvr there will be fixed and variable audio he can use either one..

On the ps3 it has rca out so he can use that.

If you need a detailed setup guide just ask
