Hi guys

I know this is random to be my first post, but today my 7 year old daughter was nagging me about these new hoverboard electrical scooters that has been tredning over the past few weeks. I have read mixed articles about the safety of these things and another issues is unlike USA or Europe, their dont seem to be any legit sellers in the south african market, maybe only a few Chinese models on gumtree and this site I happen to come accross, www.hover-board.co.za

Anyways just wondering if anybody has had experience here?

R7000 for a set of little wheels and you wish to spend that much on your daughter.

Well done to you sir.

I just think that the pricing is opportunistic.

They are selling them at the "dubai fair " here in Durban , I think its about R2500 or R3000 each I think.

Peter , R7000 isnt much nowadays only 441 usd or 301 Pounds LoL
god our exchange rate is sad ..

But on a serious note , I think R7000 is to much for that thing . I think its a craze and will soon die off.Having to recharge it all the time must be a real headache.

Watch out for the ones that catch fire!

Well I wasnt going to buy her the R7000 one, the R4900 entry level one seems fine. from gumtree and olx, the cheapest you will find would be R4900 as well and I would rather buy from an "offical" store at least... Thanks OPC will check out xboard as well.

Yeah everybody seems to hate that they calling them hoverboards, guess its still ganna be a good few years till the real ones really release...

I also read on a news article when researching the topic that all the SA airlines have put a ban on them as well like most other international airlines, which means cant even be taking them on holiday. So rethinking this all again, I agree to it being a phase, 3-4 months and they will be out I rate...

I reckon I'll wait until the safety issues are sorted and then see if it's even still a thing...
They're not pricy at all compared to segways...

www.esquire.co.za has them for less than R7k.

I think its called a balance board.

Its gonna make more "LAZY" people. Just because of that, price irrelevant, I won't buy one for my kid.

those rechargeable batteries are downright dangerous
reports of spontaneous fires
not to mention the serious injuries, when falling off, I think there is a video of Mike tyson, coming a-croppa in a very big way

I wouldn't buy that for a 7 years old "apple of daddies" eyes

Check this link for a real hoverboard. Lexus made a few, probably a few million dollars after development. Closest thing to back to future I've seen.
