Some random flapping on the Glock.
On the Glock, I also did a lot of research at the time, and for self defense research suggested that the Glock 19 subcompact 9mm is the perfect choice.
I did some target shooting with a friends and it really is a nice weapon and easy to carry.
However, I then got offered a Glock 23 for an insane price, its also a sub-compact but it has a 40 cal, and yea i carry 40 cal hollows. Same as the glock 19/17 only issue recoil is a bit more harsh,
I am slighly more accurate with the 17 due to the recoil on repeat shots at the targets in kind of a "rapid unload mag" kind of way, as the recoil on the 40 does bounce a bit more.
However I fully agree with what has been said above, you want as large as possible cal for self defense.
You do not pull a weapon unless you intent to use it, you do not fire unless you intent to kill, so in self defense, If you cannot get it done in 2 or 3 shots, your pretty much done anyway,
In self defense, it does not matter if you shoot with a .22, 9mm or a 50 cal, if you draw that weapon, your subject to the same laws, if you fire with that weapon, your subject to the same laws, if you kill with any of those weapons, even if you wound, your subject to the same laws.
Remember that dead men tell no tales....
THe only drawback on the 40 cal is that the ammo is slightly more expensive, so if you want to go do some range shooting, its gonna cost you more.
However... I am not sure if this is legal or not, but on the Glock 23, which is of course the 40 cal, you can actually get a 9mm barrel, and you can then shoot normal 9mm with it, Cost for that additional barrel I have heard is about 1.5k, so then you have both worlds,
I do not know what the law says above the above for forensics, so I am not condoning the above, but thats how it is.
Regarding the Glock safety, first rule of gun safety, keep your finger off of the trigger, second rule of gun safety, KEEP YOUR FSCKING FINGER OFF THE TRIGGER....
I will never carry one up, simply because I have a small child in the house, my gun is either on me or in the safe and you will never find it laying around, ever, but you never know, my car keys with safe keys lay around though so...,
I also carry a material holster and not the hard plasticy ones, as it wears easier for concealed carry, so while it is virtually impossible for something to push the micro trigger and the trigger, you can never be too cautious.
