Gran Turismo 5 Challenge Thread

I tried playing with the settings to see if i could win anything.
I did a 50.591 (took off 0.088 from my previous 50.679).
DS3, Manual, skid recovery, ABS=1.

Incase some of you are wondering, here are my exact settings for the 50.591 lap:
(PS: The M3 GTR RC is way more fun and faster :))

Do you mind if I steal your settings, tuning isn't exactly my strong suit :fencelook:

Hang on, how did you get up to 647BHP!? :fencelook:

I don't mind at all, i'm not stingy :). (Thats why i posted the settings ;))

Honestly though, we all need to be driving stock / as bought cars. tuning can influence the car considerably and i believe in far racing.
so whoever is setting the next challenge: Please consider restricting the race to No mods or tuning (or a particular mod list like exhaust + software + turbo only) so that everyone races with the "the same car".

647hp!? when i was doing the first lap time i posted, i drove the car to the point were my power started to decrease!! so i changed the oil :fencelook:.

I wholeheartedly agree on using stock cars as it then comes down to the individual's driving ability, tuning really can change a car's characteristics.

I need to take my car for an oil change then

I was lurking for it everywhere!!

Here is what i do, give it a try you will probably be faster than me:
You need to brake late for the first and second hairpin. While braking for these corners the car will slide a little - don't worry - while sliding downshift to 1st, wait for the car to correct it's direction then hit second gear.
and on the last hairpin (before the straight) only accelerate once you see the "double thick" run offs (white/red thingy's on the side of the track) on your right hand side.

edit: Did anyone read the lap times behind my "Driving options" image? Check it out and you will see the M3 GTR Race Car is faster than the S2000 and a 900ph Aventador (yes, i know the track is too short/tight for a car with that much powers).

I found that sliding around the hairpin and quickly changing up to eliminate constant wheelspin improved my time aswell. Manual has its advantages.

I agree with all the tips you suggest, the problem i have is breaking for the last corner, picking a breaking spot is difficult and thats where im losing time.:argh:

I agree with standard cars also, maybe just full racing suspension:fencelook:

For the last corner i brake about 1.5 sec after the gear indicator starts going mad. while braking i turn in and downshift to 4th, press accelerator until the car slides a little then back off and feather the x button, just guide the car and as soon as you see the cones on the right "give it all the beans" :) and don't keep the steering analog turned full to the right (press any harder and you going to break it!) there's a point where the analog does the "same amount of turning" but allows the car to accelerate!! you should be doing around 192 past the line.

No racing suspension, hehehee

Does anyone know if i can send "ghosts" to other players?

I get a higher top speed over the line, but its as a result of shorter gear ratios 1st-5th and braking too early for the last corner, :argh:

Why no racing suspension :fishwack:

Ahh nice! What times are you running at the moment?

Suspension can "influence" too much :sorry:
