Good mechanic needed

Morning guys.

My wife bought me a daily in December and I have been trying to get it all sorted and ready for Roadworthy, but have just had endless frustration with it.

I have rebuilt the engine and done everything by the book, but now have quite a serious oil leak in the sump area. This is after trying to seal it multiple times. The front suspension also needs seeing to as it doesn't feel at all well when driving the car. It's almost like it's trying to shake itself apart. The tyres are brand new and have been balanced.

Figured after 2 months of blood, sweat and tears, I best send it to someone more competent than myself to sort out.

It's a 1997 Opel Kadett 200iS. Do any of you guys know where to find someone who knows these cars and knows what they are doing?

I am based in Randburg, but work in Centurion.

I do use my 320i as a daily at the moment, but the miles I do are killing it. Rather leave it to enjoy properly on the weekends and rack the miles up on the Opel.

I have had 4 Opel Kadett / Astra's, including the TS, in the past when they were new on the market, and not one leaked anything. Best car I ever owned was my Astra 200i, did over 350k kms with not one issue at all and it had a hard life. Was still going strong at that age and mileage.

The opel is going to feel like an ox wagon in comparison to what you driving now, sounds like you want one for nostalgia purposes and being 18yrs on they will never feel like your past brand new ones. To get one back to those levels takes time, money and dedication! Consider spares availability new and 2nd hand. Older cars tend to be parked more often which is better suited as a weekend toy, you have plenty time to tinker on them.
Besides, you paid a premium price for your F30, its more comfortable and its better on fuel so get your money's worth and drive it daily!

+1, no point in saving miles on a car that has motorplan, get your moneys worth out of that plan

Guys, not going to have a debate about this. I will be selling the F30 soon as I need to get me a 4x4 as the one I had access to has been sold and left me high and dry. I really don't want to be using that on a daily basis, hence the Opel, something cheap to get me around.

I just need a good mech to finish the mechanicals up for me.

Your Opel sounds like it's fine...iv always heard the saying if an opel doesn't leak oil there's no oil in it :tiptoe:

On a more serious note I would also recommend Nasen

Been recommended and ex GM tech who is local to me so going to try him. It's SV Motors in Northriding. His name is Shaun and will be taking the car to him next Tuesday. Thanks for all the input.
