Ghosts unlocking my buddy’s E46

Hi guys posting this on behalf of my buddy.

He seems to have a problem with his E46 Coupe unlocking by itself.
It’s happened twice over the last 6 months or so. He would lock the car from the remote, only to find when he returns to the vehicle that the driver’s door has been unlocked,
The alarm is deactivated and the petrol flap is also unlocked. The passenger door however still seems to be locked (It's a coupe)
It last happened yesterday at his work and when he left the car he made certain that it was locked from the remote and the alarm was on etc.
Would really appreciate it guys if anyone could assist around the Randburg area, or if this has happened to any of you guys. Any advice or suggestions would be much appreciated.
Thanks in advance for your replys

Comfort access issue according to google :fencelook:

Just don't know if E46 has this function

Either that, or he is so excited about his car that he is pressing the unlock button by accident while the key is in his pocket :roflol:

A very stupid question, but did he make sure he did not accidentally press the unlock button while the remote was in his pocket? I know I've done that a few times, especially when I have my wallet etc. in the same pocket. Also some remotes have a very long range as well. I know when I had a Qashqai the remote would work over a distance of +/-15m and that through walls too...

:fencelook: He should leave a note asking Ghost to please lock doors after it has used his car.
Or Lock the door manually and see if it happens then. :dunnoanymore:
when this happens is at any place or just at office/home, there is a very slight chance that someone else has a device that is at the same frequency and accidentally opens his car.

Has he physically checked the drivers door and petrol flap after locking the car with the remote?

Alarm could be armed irrespective of the button actually going down from what I know, could be under correction but if the door is closed you can still activate the alarm

Ask your buddy to check the Trunk Boot Lid Lock Actuator , had a similar problem but it would unlock immediately.

Had the same problem a while back. Turned out to be moisture in the door lock switch in the centre console from drinks spilt and slowly seeping into the edges and eveventually ending up in the bottom of the switch and trigerring the switch.

Removed the switch, cleaned it and replace it. Problem solved. Hope that helps.

Had this happen on my e36. Car would lock and alarm would activate, then the driver's door would unlock. something was sticking in the driver's door lock mechanism, had it opened up and cleaned out, never happened again.

This got me thinking, is there any way that another E46 has similar coding in that parking lot?
maybe 1 in a million chance?
and maybe he should put it under video surveillance
